Yep,
know the garden centre, bought all our plants there so will take a look. I wondered what was going on with Outback as the owner seemed to have stopped the build of his villa last time we were there.

Although the Egg in Nest showroom in town is closed they are still doing business from the industrial unit as you enter Ayamonte. I think this is by appointment only, if you are interested PM me and I will get the phone number for you. Also, Investor Furnishings which have taken over the Egg in Nest showroom might be worth a look.

Thanks Sharon. I sent a mail to Egg in Nest last night and, as you say, they now operate out of the warehouse. They sent me their number and some examples of furniture. I'll also try Investor.
Thanks again.

Vera who used to work in the Outback has now set up in business herself. The bar at Isla Canela that was Ja's bar is now Rincon de Portugal.Vera runs it with business partner David. They have some good plans for the summer. They do Portuguese, Tapas and English food. We had a good coffee and some toasties the other day, Vera showed us the large sun terrace upstairs which hopefully they are going to do barbeques up there with sardines and chicken piri piri.

Hi I was on a flight and saw a good gadget.

Now I have no connection with the company - or frankly have no idea if this works or not - but it looks like a good idea. Especially if you are renting, it will keep the AC cost down

It switches off the A/C when there is no-one in the room and back on again... good for the environment too.

See attached...

Cheers

I followed BE advice and bought an annual DEW insurance policy - which does cover everything - tyres and underbody - and works out much cheaper if you rent more than about 10 days in a year. I used www.cartrawler.com (again a BE recommendation) to find a renter for my next trip and they came up with Argus - who also don't make a charge for cross border.
Hope this helps
Mike J

Just to mention, on my last trip I booked with Argus but on collection they informed me that the charge was 50 euros to cross the border and insisted this had always been the case. Bit stuck as prepaid so what I thought was good value became quite expensive. Very much a take it or leave it attitude also. I think I'll go back to Economy Car Rental as they were good the previous time.

Just checked with Economy Car Hire and there are no hidden extras like this when booked with them. If challenged to pay for cross border or additional driver when collecting the car, when booked through ECH ring the UK helpdesk and they will deal with the matter.

The only thing to look for is Glass and under car insurance cover. If you book on line it is about £1 per day. It is more expensive if bought when collecting the car.

Not good to see all the windows whitewashed at the Outback. I can't imagine it is worth anything now! All that was worth having has gone! Greedy landlords! I have been told it was 5,000 euros per month rent. Any takers?
