I posted just after Luis opened - we happened to be there right on the opening ..... here it is
His empire is growing and he's opened a new resto a week ago - just a few yards down the road to the original one - which now just does tapas and wonderful garlic prawns (best Ive had). The new one has a more substantial menu, but is basic and good portugese fare. So he still rates as the closest to CE...... The new one is called Mestre Romulo. Very drinkable house red for 5 Euro a litre.. but get a half litre for 3 and share it if you are driving. Tel 966 170 381 or 962 686 137.
To find both take the Villa Real (VRSA) turn off after the bridge. Go away from VRSA, north at the junction and in 100 yards take the Monte Francisco (MF) turn off, first left. At the roundabout, DONT follow MF but take the 2nd exit. After a hundred yards or so, at the next R-about turn right. His first resto is immediately on the left Campiesa, and about 30 yards further down in his new one. (BTW the original resto is in a community centre - with free internet in the upstairs library)
Apart from the club, of course, I'd say this is the closest resto to CE - GREAT that it is in Portugal. The price has gone up from the 7.50... to 8 - but that includes soup + main course + desert + coffee + 1/4 wine. Previously we would pay 2x7.50+5 for a LITRE of quaffable wine. So the equivalent of 10 euros each for a big nosh up and a bottle of wine each.
Also Luis is a linguist, he speaks English + French which is good for us. Then its calling Ann for a great taxi service back home!

Thanks for that, I will give it a try when I'm over next. With regard to the legal stuff. I did get through in the end, but only after phoning countless times, they still never replied to my emails. I have a meeting set up for when I go over next.

We are in the same boat trying to get something back to start again - so far with no luck. We know quite a few people in the same boat - only 1 has got her deposits back. However, our solicitor has not asked for any money. 15k euros seems rather a lot - what do you get for it? We are coming over shortly to see our solicitor so will let you know what we find out.

Someone mentioned that in the last set of posts, that the only way to get service is to go there personally. I find it terrible really, if true.
I hope that when you get there 1) Your lawyer is actually there to see you and 2) you complete all actions at the meeting. If you have to follow up with emails and phone calls, then your experience to date is a warning!
Good luck - Also enjoy your meal at Luis' place.

hi again to all of you , i am very much impressive for what i have read in this forum about the creditors of Fadesa and the fees some solicitors want to charge...
about local solicitors i will advise you to be very careful with who you chose, there are a law firm who their main solicitor is a girl from Colombia, she is not a bad person but would you chose a solicitor from another country to deal with a complicate law issue... for my work in the bank i have dealings with very much all of them and to be honest i would only suggest 2 law firms, even if they are slow giving answers and bad in communications or do not have an office in Ayamonte in the other case.... their names have been mentioned in this forum and i would be happy to give it to who wants to ask.
ps another mortgage tip, make sure that in your mortgage there is not a minimun rate, it might happened that when you signed your mortgage was a minimiun rate probably around 3 or 4 % so your mortgage wont go lower than that.

Have just returned from a fab week on Esuri. What has happened to Bob's book corner at the golf club? Over the last few months have saved up books and taken them out and usually managed to find one or two to read in return whilst on holiday. Any info?

Ref car hire via economy
Just found that if your car breaks down while in Spain, then you are responsible for getting it back over the border into Portugal. Also, even there is no charge for border exit to Spain, you must make sure that you enter "Spain" in the "Border Exit required for" box!!

According to the news F. Martin of Martin-Fadesa was paid 3 million euro last year. That's official figure, probably higher. Suppose the Administrators can't touch that!

we are hoping to visit Jerez for the Fair next week. If any one can share any advice on the weeks program and how easy, or otherwise, it is to park in Jerez it would be appreciated. I dont remember Jerez being particularly large and would like to visit the cathedral again so thought about parking near the Gonzalez Bodega all comments greatly received.

As for the programme, well, there's not much to say. Open 24/7 from 10pm Sunday until the following Sunday. Ladies' day is Wednesay. Or outside of the feria you have the Acoso y Derribo competition, or the Doma Vaquera competition in the Depósito de Sementales. Lots of galas at the Real Escuela.

Just go to the Telefonica shop, in front of the big Supersol supermarket. Try to squeeze an offer on internet out of them. Don´t go to the small one near Laguna Square, they´re cr.p
