Always use Economy car Hire, they are a broker no charge for border crossing, free additional driver, and no excess!!. I pay the extra for tyre and glass cover usually about a £1 a day.

Used others and always extra costs or poor service, don't see the sense in having cheaper price with an excess, you only need to be caught once and it would be very expensive.

Just got back after 10days in Esuri great time as usual, plenty playing golf. Played three times myself courses in great shape, good test of golf and great views.(seen your builder doing a bit John, nearly put my ball in your new pool!!!).

Thanks to Bob,Martin and Barry for the company,or should that be Bob the Bandit?,Had a bbq on the Sat for John's birthday and think he drank Portugal dry of Mateus.

All in all we love the Place,it was'nt all doom and gloom like here.back out in June for 20 days more golf and plenty of good food, along with good company.

Ps,Hi to Tom and Sue.

Just looked at Economy Car Hire and their terms suggest that you need to check with them re Border Exit - presumably every time as their supplier may vary.

"Border Exit
It is important that our supplier confirms a border exit to another country, otherwise insurance cover will not be provided. When taking vehicles out of the country from which they are hired, full breakdown service may not be available, please check with our office in the UK before travel."

I always book through 'Economy'. On most trips I have selected Travel Rent who have always given excellent service. Last November for the first time I selected Air Auto. Thank goodness I did. We were on a trip to Huelva in our almost new Peugeot 308 when the gear lever disconnected from the gearbox and no alternative gears could be selected. I was stuck in first gear only. One call to Air Auto in Faro and they despatched a pickup truck and a taxi to transport us back to Faro airport for an exchange vehicle. We had almost drained the tank on the 308 but they replaced the car with another with a full tank of fuel (no charge) and appologised for the original car failing us. Some rentals insist that you make your own arrangements in getting the vehicle back across the border into Portugal despite being told that you are going into Spain. We are going out in a few weeks and I booked my car today. You've guessed it we are using AIR AUTO again.

Now then, Mr. T., I seem to remember that the Euro I won from you was on elastic, it went straight back across the table after our next game

I agree with you about Economy Car Hire, we use them all the time, apart from the advantages you mention, its great that their Client's cars are available to collect and return from the Airport Car Park, no need to get bussed anywhere. We use the annual Excess Insurance Policy that has been mentioned on this thread before, at a cost of approx £50 per year, so we know exactly what the cost of the car hire will be when we book it. One thing to watch out for is that some of the companies used by ECH charge for out of hours collection/return, whilst some don't, so if you are on an early/late flight, this need to be taken into account when comparing prices.

I also agree with you about loving the place, and can't wait to get back.

Jag has done a great job in turning his place into a Bistro. Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera with me the night we had a meal there with John and Carol, so the quality of the attached photo is poor, as I took it on my phone. Hopefully though, it conveys some of the decor and ambiance of the place. Definitely worth a visit.

Ken, I am sure you, Gary, and all the other's from the dark side of Liverpool (and Manchester ! ) were so pleased for me with the result on sunday (I even got a text from Joey)

Don't you just love these threads when people use them for a one to one, even though they know each other well enough to drop them an e-mail

Hhahaha, This is the yearly fair, indeed in October! It´s not an umbrella festival, the Ayamontinos say that´s the only thing the fair´s good for! (buying umbrellas)

"The Feast of the Umbrella" Very, very funny!!

As i've never met or spoken to Graham, and dont have his email that would prove difficult?.

Have been doing a search on the thread for the info required and given up after a few hours.but remember some one on the thread last year discussing it,and getting a helpful reply. Not sure who it was hence the open question.
