COSTA ESURI - AYAMONTE

I have used a book called Algarve Let's walk b y Julie Statham which has great walks of not too long a duration - 2 hours or thereabouts. The only thing we find with the book is that her diagrams are not to scale and the distances between points of interest is stated so it is easy to think you have gone wrong - going wrong in the heat when you never see anyone is not to be recommended.
Anyway the Algarve Tourist Board produce a superb pack of walks on line (in English). Nothing similar in Spain in either Spanish or English except for the Sierra de Aracena up north. I could not attach the pdf file before because it was huge - 123 pages. I have since split it up so will try again. I hope walkers will find it useful.
I will need to send it as two messages - the file called West Coast contains the overview of all the walks

Would be good to get some of these walks written up so that it is impossible to get lost i.e. at the large cork oak tree next to the ruined farm building make a right turn etc. Not sure a map is quite adequate for me and the text is more descriptive of what is to be found rather than directions!

Once the true cost has been calculated after completion (could take 2 or 3 months) you are due the reimbursement. You shouldn't have to chase it up....that's pretty poor service if you do. Seeing as you have a current account with your mortgage lender the bank should pay it directly into your account.
I got back just over 1000 euros, so you should be keeping an eagle eye on your bank account to make sure it comes in, and don't forget about it!!

Just to elaborate a bit further on this point....regardless of whether you use a solicitor/estate agent or deal direct with the bank you will always have to make a "provisión de fondos" before completion which should be an overestimate of your purchase costs. Basically the bank/Notary needs to ensure that you have enough ready cash to pay every Tom, Dick and Harry who takes a cut when you purchase a house.

The only thing I can add is that I had to chase it up. SO if anybody is interested, please refer to my last post on this subject... if we can get a part of this, its worth going for.... Im glad I did although with my lawyer I had to chase, and chase and chase...... so be prepared for a marathon, if you have a similar lawyer!

Jon

I have been on a guided walk with a group including people from CE with this company.
The chap is a one man band and has a diary of the walks they do on his website.
I have no affiliation with this company, just a happy customer.

I am sure you have to book your place because numbers are limited from a safety point of view. You also have to know where they are meeting before each walk as this varies according to where the walk starts.

Hi Dave
Sorry if I wasnt clear, in our case the lawyer estimated all the charges, and we paid in advance - and of course he over estimated.. so he had the money. As much as I deeply regret using my lawyer, I do understand that in this particular subject, he did nothing wrong, making sure that there was enough money up front to complete... better safe than sorry.
I got the money as I chased it and was there in Ayamonte to ensure that I got it.
Note, I dont want to set false expectations: as there may be no refund, and the lawyer might have correctly calculated it. Also you may have already gotten it somehow.
But I think some people didnt realise that these charges were estimated and havent thought about querying the final account with the lawyer. I'm not the only one that has had a good refund.
The refund was well worth it, for us - a significant amount. It may not be the same, if any, for others.
So this post only applies to someone if 1) they paid UP FRONT for their completion and if 2) they havent had a final account after completion.
BTW this is a shame to have to chase it up and not just receive it, but hey if you get something as a result of this, it could be a nice surprise. Mr Positive talking here
Hope this helps anyone in the above situation, and of course the lawyer is obligated to return any outstanding money, if you fit into this situation - if so theres no harm in asking surely?
Regards + good luck
