Precisely. The deal has already been done between Eroski and the Don Diego - they want it back. However, Eroski said that they would not go until CE was at 80% occupancy (of 6500). That looks highly unlikely to ever happen, and if the site ever makes it to 3000, well that would be an achievment in itself. That's not negative talk, just realism.

In Eroski's position I would imagine - THOUGH I DON'T KNOW - that they would be forced to renegotiate with the hotel. Costly, but do-able.

Honestly, I was surprised when I found out that they would be moving to CE rather than just opening a satellite store. They must have been at the same marketing presentation as you lot

Thats do-able in the not too distant future since all the Fadesa building is done they just have to sell some more and bargins will be around. There are lots of others still building like fury last week not part of MF up at the top back of the site. There are 17 completed unsold villas on Golf I and lots more under construction on the new site that has just been flattened.

Percieved wisdom - and not mine, although I agree - suggests that it will never be 6000. That's not a bad thing. Some of the 'smaller' developers who have large plots on which to build, it seems may be connected to Fadesa and not as independent as they appear.

Add to that the fact that well over 50% of the currently constructed buildings, which number 2165, are unsold, with many of those not occupied permanently. Given the market the way it is, the bad press the place has recieved, they are going to have to go some to sell those 1000-plus units before we can even talk about the other '4000'.

If I was a major high street retailer I'd be falling over myself to get in there

No I meant 3000. Don't forget that Albatros are ready with lots of people signed upbut not completed for lack of electric. Same with lots of plots and there are others what about Sea and Sun?

I could be wrong, but I believe that MF considers it a sale even if only a % has been paid and is awaiting completion. For this reason, it may be that the Albatros would be included in the figures given before.

Thanks Fortaleza, I had to read it a few times. This second version is more succinct. I didn't know what PA stood for, but now (I think) I do (Coalicion Andalucista? with the help of wikip.)
Thanks for answering the next question; however, I had not noticed your post at the time explaining her role and that of other administrators.

Something else to chew on...
What does declaring yourself bankrupt entail? How has this set a precedent in Spain?

Smart move. The major shareholder (44%) also declaring voluntary insolvency. Smart. Talk about a solid insurance policy!

I suppose it is a question of what the numbers really refer to. If there is a large proportion of properties which are actually 'holiday homes', then those will mostly be empty for large parts of the year and will not help towards numbers. Retail outlets can not survive on my business, if we are only there for a few weeks a year.

(Although we'd love to be there more.)
