Re: Dubai Airport

...Just imagine if that kind of...

Re: Post a good experience you had in Australia.

I fell asleep in a drunken stupor on the bus on the way home from the pub on one occasion after staggering on to the bus after a heavy session at the Normanby. I missed my stop, and the eventually...

Re: do you 'celebrate' Halloween?

No celebrating here.

Any kids who knock on the door *may* if their lucky get whatever I can find from the stash of confiscated 'party bags' we have (why do all kids parties always end with a the...

Re: Baby bonus reduced - just how important is it?

...and yet there have been a number of occasions in recent years that the 'birthrate' at the xxxxxxxxx hospital where my wife works has seen odd little 'spikes' on and around the 1st July as...

I got old yesterday....

Yep it's official.

I sold the Kawasaki Ninja and bought a new Toyota Camry Hybrid.

Extremely sensible thing to do - but part of me has died.:cry_smile::cry_smile::cry_smile:

Re: The horror of glass bottles!

I'm pretty sure you could do some severe damage with a broken dinner plate if you were so inclined. Should we force all restaurants that open to the public to use paper plates? After all if you WANT...

Re: The horror of glass bottles!

...and people are killed each year by cars but we don't ban them do we?

Some things are capable of causing horrible injuries when not used properly. trying to ban everything is not the solution....

Re: The horror of glass bottles!

At risk of sounding like one of those "guns don't kill people - people kill people" nutter I would be mildly miffed if this got up.

Whilst I have a great deal of sympathy for anyone who ends up on...

Re: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-03-21/australians-pay-highest-power-prices-says-s

Perhaps, but gratuitous use of electricity ISNT a necessity and I'd bet 95% of Australians could cut their usage by waaaay more than the tiny increases due to Carbon Pricing if they could be bothered...

Re: What were you doing 25 yrs ago ?

I remember it clearly:

It was a dark and stormy night... but we all slept soundly. However, we woke up late (what with all the clock radios not working thanks to the lack of power). We rushed to...

Re: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-03-21/australians-pay-highest-power-prices-says-s

Lucky perhaps - or alternatively we kept doing the Maths, realized the writing was on the wall and something had to change, and figured that there was no way we could afford not to do it - and then...

44c was the government FIT, but retailers are free to offer whatever they want to purchase your electricity. AGL offer 8c ON TOP of the government minimum 44c - hence 52c. Origin offer 50c....

Re: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-03-21/australians-pay-highest-power-prices-says-s

Re: Name one thing in the UK that is cheaper than in Australia

Things that are cheaper?

- top flight private schools <$20k

- flights to NZ? <$500

- theme park entry < $100 per year

I'm sure I could list other things, but that's enough for now...
