Re: MV 'GBP' abandon ship?

Hi guys. This is something I've had my eye on for some time now. When Elaine and I got here in August '08 we got over 2.8 to the pound. Now it's hovering around 2.05. The UK's current National Debt...

Re: IT EOI with no IT Degree?

You make a good point. I think perhaps I will. When you put yours in, did you claim any experience under the Future Growth Area bit? I realise I can't claim for the LTSSL experience without a degree,...

Re: IT EOI with no IT Degree?

I agree with you entirely. If I had got myself a degree by the usual route it would by now be 35 years old and if, by chance, it happened to be in IT then whoopdy doo I'd now know all there is to...

Re: IT EOI with no IT Degree?

Nope. In 1974 I couldn't wait to get out into the big wide world and start earning. As for points, I believed up til a few hours ago that I have 85. Now however I suspect that I might qualify as...

IT EOI with no IT Degree?

I have been in NZ working in IT for 9 months now and know I can apply for PR in September. However, having looked on the INZ website and doing the points calculator it appears that I can put in an...

Re: Health Care IT support?

I'm also in IT but a totally different field. However, when I was seeking employment in NZ I found the link below very useful:

www.seek.co.nz

My field of expertise is relatively scarce in NZ...

Re: Webcam freezing with Skype

Thanks Iain. With Vista I didn't think defragging was still necessary but I'll give it a go. Windows/Temp has just 2 files in it and I can't find a local settings/temp folder. I got a feeling Norton...

The origin of a name

Can someone answer a couple of questions for me?

Just what exactly is manchester?

and...

Why in God's name is it called manchester?

Have you found any other naming oddities?

Webcam freezing with Skype

We use Skype with a webcam to keep in touch with the folks at home, but after a varying length of time, and with monotonous regularity, our webcam freezes up. We can still see and hear the other...

Calling all techies! Come to that, calling all wireless broadband users!

While our main pc with all its associated electronic gubbins (including Belkin wireless router) continues to enjoy its...

Re: Are Kiwis the grinch?

As with so many things these days, it seems to me, this modern practice is simply a corruption of something far older and more meaningful. It's not an American conspiracy. Have a look at this and see...

Re: Do poms moan wherever they go?

Bloody hell, this is all a bit heavy for a Sunday evening isn't it?

And what has it all got to do with poms moaning anyway?

Re: Anyone fancy a decent pint?

Good man Al. It's a rotten job but someone's got to do it. I look forward to reading your findings. Browns Bay is a lot closer to me than Newmarket. Happy sampling!

Anyone fancy a decent pint?

My wife and I have been here about 2 months now, and enjoy going out for a drink now and then. However, when I go out to the pub I always make a point of looking for the local brews and trying them....

Re: Nothing to do?

Don't even get me started on the "psychological damage" that can be done by not winning. That's why we no longer have team sports at school. Like I said above, how in God's name did we ever run an...

Research is vital, you're all right about that, and my wife and I did masses before we came out. We even did a recce when we came over for my job interviews. However, as someone once said to me...

Nothing to do?

It makes me tired. Again and again I read posts here and there about there being nothing for young people to do here. It's not a New Zealand problem. I used to hear it for years back in the UK too....
