Re: Any IT peeps in Christchurch?

I've only used the Interislander but that was pretty good too and ferry was included in the rental price with Apex. (I booked a special North + South deal for the car and we got the ferry crossing...

Re: Any IT peeps in Christchurch?

What's up with skipping Wellington? Geesh you don't know what you're missing! (seriously, Wellington is well worth spending a day or two.)

In NZ it's not what you know, but WHO you know....

Re: Suburbs.

Have you thought about renting a property instead? I've compared the NZ mortgage rates (against an insane 9.7%!!) against the costs of renting an upper market piece of real estate and decided against...

Re: for all those having doubts or second thoughts

We've been here (Wellington) now for 2 weeks and it has been nothing short of fantastic. Generally everyone has been very helpful and relaxed and we've been amazed how easy it is to arrange things...

Re: Is this what Christchurch is really like?

How about just coming down here and having a peek yourself?

No amount of YouTube video's will ever give you a real insight in how things really are .. or aren't. Personally, I didn't think...

Re: Face to face interviews with skilled migrant applicants without job offers

From what I've heard and read from other (Dutch) expats, they only had to do a short (20 - 30 min) phone interview. As I had a job offer in hand when applying for my residence permit, I never had to...

Re: The Other face of New Zealand

No no I'm not saying it's worse :) I wouldn't move to NZ if it was worse than here. Then again, I don't expect it to be paradise either. Crime is everywhere - even murder. Killing the store owner for...

Re: The Other face of New Zealand

Who ever said it was better? Despite it's beautiful scenery, NZ is still "just another western country". On the other hand, had this happened in Berlin or Frankfurt, it would have been in the...

Re: where moving!!!

ANZ is loads better than BA but I forgot that you have a serious dislike for anything to do with New Zealand.

Re: where moving!!!

Gulf Air has also been very good for me whenever I had to fly to the Middle East from London. Most of the staff are western men and women and they have been very customer service minded. I did arrive...

Re: where moving!!!

What's wrong with ANZ? I've flown with them from San Francisco to Auckland and back via Hong Kong and I found them to be pretty darn good. Service was good, food was good, entertainment system on...

Re: Wny not NZ???

A former colleague of mine was a Kiwi and I asked him that very same question - why are so many leaving NZ when it's such a beautiful place to live. His answer was rather simple yet very true: Even...

We're currently living in Germany and we're not unhappy at all. I hav.. had a good job (just finished my last working day today!) and so did my partner, we lived in a very spacious house with an...

We'll move to NZ next month but I have spend some time in Oz (NSW)- have lots of family there. While I also like Australia I was rather stunned by the information you were fed. My family had their...

Re: A Rant....

To be honest, I didn't think that driving was that bad in Auckland or Wellington - certainly more chaotic than on the SI where I wouldn't see another car for miles.

Wellington is just chaos with...

Re: Oh no, the Dutch have invaded!

Hey klicker,

Don't worry - even without a house to sell in Germany (it's a family house which will be looked after by my brother in law), our mental state consantly flicks from "Oh yeah, can't...

Re: Oh no, the Dutch have invaded!

We'll be moving to Wellington. I did get a good offer in Auckland and I was seriously considering it. It's a much bigger city (or rather.. it's an actual city, whereas Wellington is more like a...

Re: Oh no, the Dutch have invaded!

Actually Germany is very much like that in certain areas- it's a pity that the country isn't as progressive as Holland or Sweden. Women earn less than men in equal positions, sometimes up to 33%...

Re: Baggage Allowance

That's true - and that's why we booked our flights through LA next month! We both hate LAX but it's only a 2 hour wait while they clean and refuel the plane so just a minor price to pay for 230% more...

Re: Petrol!!!!

That's sound advice - I loved the scenery around the north and south island and I loved the cafe culture in Wellington but none of that will matter when you cannot make ends meet and you find...

Re: Oh no, the Dutch have invaded!

Balkenende, Verdonk, Wilders and basically rest of that right winged lot should be put on a raft and let them drift to sea... Hmm, no better not - they might get lucky and land in NZ!!

If...

Oh no, the Dutch have invaded!

Although not originally British, I have been reading the forums for the last months and decided to "expose" myself by finally registering.

I'll be moving to Wellington in June after...
