Re: shopping in US - taxes and duty?

Thanks very much for your replies. It sounds like it's worth giving it a try. I was alarmed because I read online that if you are out of the country for less than 24 hours you have to pay duty on...

shopping in US - taxes and duty?

For those of you who pop over the border to do grocery shopping - do you normally have to pay duty and taxes on all the goods you bring back in? How much is the duty on groceries? Does it still work...

Re: Police checks ... the story so far

I've had a reply from CIC London on this issue. Please see the emails on the "Read Me: Police checks for UK applicants" thread at the top of this forum.

Re: Husband on TWP - what do we need?

My understanding is that you might be allowed to apply for a spousal work permit, but you are not required to (http://www.canada.org.uk/visa-info/worker/e_spouse.htm) and that you do NOT require...

Re: Husband on TWP - what do we need?

That's strange, because on the London CIC website it says:
Note that children between the age of 6 and 16 years old need to apply for an open study permit, as your accompanying dependant, prior to...

Re: What to take and what to sell?

Don't forget Freecycle. You can probably give away most of your stuff on Freecycle here and furnish your house from Freecycle there! :)
