I would try taking some holidays to places in the US that have more international flavour. San Francisco, Seattle, L.A., Chicago, Miami.

In some areas like St. Louis, the religious schools are like the "public" and "grammer schools" in England--middle class, upper class kids get to go there and the state schools get the working-class...

Communities do exist that are planned so that schools are within walking distance, but they are bit Milton Keynes like. (Consider Irvine, CA as one example.) My mum got to walk my sister a half...

My opinion on education UK vs. US as a teacher who as lived both system is:
-the UK primary school education is superior to the US one.
-the US secondary school education is superior to the UK one....
