The social life over here is completely different to the UK. You just cant pop down the local and bump into a few mates. You have to make definite plans and meeting places otherwise it wont happen.

Some of my colleagues have packaged vehicles and ended up having to take ridiculously long trips to get their mileage up to the agreed level eg driving to Sydney just for the sake of it.

I think they have a parade in Brissie, but havent seen anything on the Gold Coast for the Irish, seen the Scottish society, the Italian club, the German club, Greek Festival, Japanese festival etc:)
