I also checked with RTA since I was going on to visit visa for a few months, and they said as long as my UAE driving licence and vehicle registration hadn't expired then I could still drive my own...

Should be able to get a good 1 bed in Tecom for less than Dhs50k. Our rent is Dhs64k for a 2 bed. Close to metro station, pubs, Park n Shop and African + Eastern.

Jebel Ali Club has a gym, swimming pool and tennis courts. Membership is fairly cheap from what I remember, but the gym is quite small esp compared to Fitness First.

I left The Gardens in October, after living there for 8 years.

It was a great area to live in with cheap rent and lots of greenery. (Emphasis on WAS). Rents increased by 20% in consecutive years...
