Default Rents Are Still Falling

A business acquaintance has just relocated his family from The Greens to a spacious 3-bed apartment in Al Barsha and is paying Dhs65,000. Another friend is moving to Dubs next month and wants a nice 1-bed apartment for under Dhs50,000 not far from SZR. Any suggestions?

that may be in some areas, but doesnt mean to say that the landlords will come down in price, especially in abu dhabi.

No reduction on our rent this year. But more and more AD landlords seem wiling to take 2 or more cheques.

Nor us. Though a few of the houses in our compound seem to be empty these days.

It has come down a bit in AD we paid 170k for a villa in MBZ last year with a pool, this year we'd decided to move to Capital Plaza, 2 bed apt on the Corniche for 180k, I realise it's 10k more but 33km closer to town and has come down from 225k just a few months ago. In 2009 we paid 260k for a 2 bed in Seashore, we must have been f-ing mental

But a 2 bed appartment in town isn't quite the same as a villa with a pool is it? What would an equivalent villa with a pool cost you if it was in town?

stupid mad person but yes the prices have come down, but not all landlords are coming down, or more importantly the banks are still sticking to the 5%. we were told by ADIB that because the law states they can add 5% they will do. we in the end got hold of the landlord who wouldnt put down the rent (as he did a lot last year) but would keep the rent the same. so you have to work the system, and sometimes the system doesnt work for you.
