and dubai rents are still much much more likely to be negotiable, they have always been that way. multiple cheques and cheaper prices in the first instance because there has always been much more supply

I've been in my new place for just over a month and loving it. Sharing with a friend I met in the place I first moved to (one of those room let places).

It's a two bed for AED76k in JLT. It's got a lovely living room, and a laminated wood floor. Makes a nice change from tiles.

Even better is the knowledge that another friend rented a two be place in the same building during the boom and was paying AED210k a year.

We tried negotiating with our land lord, his idea was to keep the rent the same...in MBZ, it's like a villa showroom, I could move round the corner and save 30k

yep abu dhabi landlords sometimes dont want to budge. we had to make sure that the bank didnt put the 5% increase on because they can its in the law so they can... nope dont think so.

Should be able to get a good 1 bed in Tecom for less than Dhs50k. Our rent is Dhs64k for a 2 bed. Close to metro station, pubs, Park n Shop and African + Eastern.

Found some 1-beds in Dubai Marina for less than 50K.
