Re: Holidays when your living in Canada

It would depend on where in Canada as its a very big place. I understand that if you are on either coast its a lot cheaper to get to places. I.e. Toronto to Florida would be direct. Internal flights...

Re: Maternity Services

The other thing to consider is your feelings about the "medical" or "natural" nature of pregnancy/childbirth. I am very pro natural childbirth, and have had 2 homebirths with no pain relief in...

Re: So Monster Jam live- what's it like?

Re: Moved: Honest answers please -Canadian lifestyle

I think it boils down to the need to be very specific about why you want to move - we wanted a bigger house and more sport/outdoor stuff for the kids to do. We do have that, but I work much longer...

Re: Nervous Brit with job offer to Vancouver, BC- Advice and friends needed. x

Another thing to factor in as far as costs go is some sort of health insurance. I don't know what the provincial plan is like in BC, but in Manitoba if you are on anything approaching a decent...

Re: Accounting graduate from UK required employment anywhere in Canada from June 2008

Hi
I am guessing you would be needing your new employer to arrange you a work permit? There should be a WIKI on that process, I am guessing, or search on work permits and you should find loads of...

Re: Mums 'n' Tods / Coffee Mornings etc

Hi
In England we went to NCT ones a lot, there is nothing similar here (but don't get me started on the Canadian lack of interest in Natural childbirth/home births, etc)......
In Winnipeg there are...

Re: Kids' valentines at school?

I think if you are expected to do it, you will get a class list. Mine are in kindergarten and pre-K and they have a class list and they are dressing up (but they are dressing up in something...

Re: Can you get a decent 2nd hand 2nd car for <$5000

I think your only real option under $5,000 is private classified ads of some sort, and remember that a private sale avoids the GST too. In Manitoba you pay the PST on private sales when you register...

Re: Can you get a decent 2nd hand 2nd car for <$5000

I wish we had been lucky enough to be able to spend $5000, there would have been loads to buy. We managed to scrape together $3500 for our minivan. We got a 1995 Ford Windstar with just over...
