Moving back from France.

Hi

I'm in a similar position....have the visa and visited several times. I find the idea of re-locating on my own a bit daunting (exciting too!), moving out of your comfort zone and living in another...

The section you quote defines "permanent resident" under the new act after it has commenced. However, if I understand you correctly, that is unfortunately not the relevant part of the new legislation...

yes, I ve already contacted them....told to refer to the info on the DIAC web site. This does not tell me if I physically have to be in Oz or otherwise!! still confused....:confused:

I got in touch with the high commission and they referred me to the DIAC web site which seems to imply you must reside in the country before the new legislation comes into force to still qualify for...
