Re: Are there any non-dodgy financial advisers in Qatar?

Meow,

Do you cover Abu Dhabi? We've been investing for 5 years now but are a bit worried that we're getting rubbish advice. Can you stay with your funds but change managers, or are we stuck with...

Re: eye tests

Re: Is the cost of living the same in Abu Dhabi & Doha

For the same reason as most people I'd assume. We are overseas because of DH's job, if he needs to move to take a step up I didn't really consider staying behind in Doha with the kids!! And, if...

Re: Is the cost of living the same in Abu Dhabi & Doha

I'm finding Abu Dhabi a little more expensive than Doha. Obviously rents are a lot higher (we're paying more for an apartment here in AD than we paid for a large villa on a big compound in Doha). ...

Re: Salary Offer in Doha, Qatar

I agree. Costs have come down but it is still a pricey place to live if you are covering rent yourself. I would say it would be hard to save much and live comfortably.

Re: Salary Offer in Doha, Qatar

A lot of that will depend on any accomodation or car allowance, what kind of hours you'll be working, leave allowance/flights home etc etc? More info would be helpful.

Re: Housing the twins in Doha!

The first one that springs to mind would be Al Fardan Gardens. It's in spitting distance of the airport and is a large compound with nice houses and a lovely kids pool. (Remember though that there...

Re: Housing the twins in Doha!

My twins were 18 months old when we moved to Doha. I left my mammoth twin pram at home and just bought the twin stroller with me. I regretted it because space isn't an issue in Doha. You can...

Re: advise on healthcare in qatar

I had a baby here and know lots of expat ladies here who have chosen to give birth in Qatar. It's not quite as forward-thinking as the UK when it comes to it (you won't get a home-birth or a...

Re: Qatar or Dubai ?

Well it's always a hard one to answer, not knowing you or your family, current situation etc.

As one of my friends put it (who's lived in both cities); Dubai is Las Vegas where Doha would be a...

Re: Help with Qatar please?

DESS is a very good school but is only primary (up to age 11). Most DESS kids go on to Doha College (if they can get it in to it that it!!) from what I can tell.

Re: Help with Qatar please?

My kids are a lot younger so I'm not sure of all of the UK curriculum high schools but I think the first choice would be Doha College. http://www.dohacollege.com/ It's well thought of and hard to...

Re: So can I have the GOOD and the BAD things about Qatar please!

Erm, I think my response would vary depending on your circumstances. Do you mean as a single guy/couple/family???

I'm here with young kids and I think it's an okay place to live while they are...
