Default Is the cost of living the same in Abu Dhabi & Doha

Hello:

Am trying to do research and it seems pretty equivalent so just wanted to check if the cost of living is the same for both Abu Dhabi and Doha?

Thanks!

I'm finding Abu Dhabi a little more expensive than Doha. Obviously rents are a lot higher (we're paying more for an apartment here in AD than we paid for a large villa on a big compound in Doha). Petrol is about 50% more expensive here too. It's not a huge amount of difference but we just seem to be spending more when we go out to eat or do the food shop etc. Places here seem to add on about 16% of taxes onto restaurant bills (tourism tax or something) which we never had in Doha. Considering we took a pay cut to come to AD because it was less of a "hardship posting" all of these little things add up!

which begs the question, why did you make the move??

more expensive, less salary, smaller abode....

did the penny not drop....

For the same reason as most people I'd assume. We are overseas because of DH's job, if he needs to move to take a step up I didn't really consider staying behind in Doha with the kids!! And, if these decisions came down to only the money in the bank and size of the house, they would be much easier to make. As it is, we are on this path for the journey. Who knows where it will take us next!
