Re: Insurancers - House - contents - car.

We just got the renewal letter for our house insurance too, going up a hefty $60 per month. :(

I have been shopping around for a cheaper option and AA seems the most reasonable so far.

Re: Insurancers - House - contents - car.

There is no requirement to have any vehicle insurance in NZ; therefore plenty of people do not bother but they are personally liable for the costs of any damage they cause, but good luck getting them...

Re: Insurancers - House - contents - car.

I think par for the course for them all to fight tooth and nail to avoid paying claims; people are still trying to get answers some nine months after the Auckland / Coromandel Flood and Cyclone...

Re: Insurancers - House - contents - car.

Yeah, the price increases are crazy.

My car insurance was with Trademe (Tower) which was the lowest price I could find in previous years but I noticed that had gone up by a massive amount when...

Re: Where do the Brits like to live in Auckland?

Often times when I spot a British accent I usually like to be friendly and ask folks where they are from, especially if they have accents similar to mine or folks that I know and the response is...

Re: Where do the Brits like to live in Auckland?

It would be somewhat wrong to assume that all the Brits in NZ are white.

Re: Where do the Brits like to live in Auckland?

There is no shortage of Brits in every suburb of Auckland, if you have parents here I would have thought that you would already be quite familiar with the best and worst of Auckland areas. If your...

Re: How can my wife get NZ residency

If you have NZ citizenship then your wife should be able to get a partner visa relatively easily - you would just need to be able to provide evidence of your relationship.

Re: Current weather and quakes in NZ. All OK?

Don't be fooled, we've had torrential rain in Auckland over the past two nights.

Auckland had a full year's worth of rainfall in the first five months of this year, anything more just pales into...

Re: Six on, six off?

I don't think it ever was much of a thing, most people have to have a job in order to get a visa and therefore have to commit one way or the other. You really can't flit across the world unless...

Re: Brokenwood tv series

The Royal Treatment (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt13989030/) (Netflix) is a cheesy / low budget rom com but worth a watch on a wet Sunday afternoon to spot the sights and scenery around Dunedin.

Re: Wain 2023!

So far, so good for us with no more flooding, albeit quite a stressful day listening to the rain absolutely tipping down and expecting the worst. I read somewhere it said: “We're nearly out of the...

Re: Fire and Tempests - NZ

These ones are persit ants they seem to turn up like a flash mob at the oddest times and places; I thought they had moved on but they came back 24 hours later to have another nosey around.

Re: Fire and Tempests - NZ

It's just never bloody ending, with one thing after another; as if another tornado was not enough, we also had a plague of ants marching through our pantry at the weekend.
