Yes it will work , we brought a flat screen over two years ago, it worked both with a HD cable and three av cables, through a virgin box, just need a step up/down transformer.

It depends what type of tv you have, we brought a US flat screen tv back to the UK connected it to the virgin box with a high def cable and it works, just needed a power transformer.

There is a website that has codes for makes of dvd players to unlock them try this link http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks we used a similar site when in the US to unlock our DVDS, works a treat.
