Not as far as I am aware. We didn't even have the classical one until relatively recently. You have to be nearer to the bright lights of the coast to have that luxury.

It's well known to be illegal, but nothing can be done, with this company at least. try and quote the law and you will probably not touch the ground on the way out of the door.

In Al Ain, the Rotana, Interconti, Hilton and the Rugby Club all have various events on over Christmas. Cheaper than Dubai for the taxi back........

My company just refuse to give any of the staff of one particular office ANY of the declared public holidays. They refuse to the give any time lieu or any compensation whatsoever, no extra days on...

my take on this is that when you resign they may want to make sure you leave the country, and they will probably chase you...
