And now with Brexit who...

Re: Moving back or not?

You're settled here (Canada) and IMHO just consider Canada as your permanent home and don't think too much on the UK. Regular visits to the parents will be a good thing but moving back permanently...

Re: The state of Canadian politics.

Not really paying attention to this.

If this is as bad as it gets in Canada then Canada is in a good place.

Re: Moving to Canada to practise law? Is it realistic?

My son thinks the same. He often tries to strike up any random person in a French conversation only to discover they haven't a clue what he is saying.

Sadly if he were to go to Quebec they'd do...

Re: Canadian Permanent Resident on renouncing PR & Departure Tax

I'm just leaving and not saying anything. My Advice is to do the same. Than just before the PR expires - renounce it.
I think you'd just update CRA when you file your tax return for 2019 with your...

Re: Reasons for returning to the UK

Because we couldn't get a good price on our home, couldn't sell our other two properties and all we could afford was a small old home in a small rural town. We were never really able to wind down and...

Re: Things you wish you could’ve done differently

I wish I had brought a lot of money to buy a house with!

Don't know if I'd live with the folks either - it didn't work for me. As part of your research, does Windsor have the jobs you are looking...

Re: Positive Immigration Stories (Also, any Welsh expats here?)

UK students are the most tested kids in Europe and I personally believe it has a negative impact on kids. The system doesn't seem geared for kids that are late developers but just for clever kids....

Re: Positive Immigration Stories (Also, any Welsh expats here?)

I'm a bit surprised about the opportunities for the kids reasoning. I have experienced Canada and the UK and I feel the opposite. Here's why.

Schooling up to year 10 is very easy compared to the...

Re: Expats - How do you find Trudeau and heavy left wing laws?

That whole "terrorist" thing is fake. I saw the evidence - no way he could have done it. Under a pile of rubble laying under the soldier no weapons. Also, That payment was awarded by the supreme...

That is in addition to the vast sum the province will pay the ex-CEO redundancy.

Also, not 1c off the hydro rates yet. But plenty of cronies being helped into plum jobs and business mates getting...
