Re: Citizenship Application Timeline

<<<snip>>>

To those waiting for citizenship, the system is unfair in its randomness. I am with you.

To those who blindly defend everything the Canadian state does - I'm sorry you have no...

Re: What Do You Wish You Brought Or Left Behind

Leave electrics...

Re: Just want to be with my partner & overwhelmed

Given his law degree and work experience couldn’t he go down the Express Entry route?

OP this means you apply for PR, not work permit.

I moved here as a spouse of a Canadian so not an expert...

Re: 183 days or more in a row outside of Canada in last 4 years

Did you move to Canada on 28 Nov 2017 from the UK?

This application is only asking for time spent since you became a PR and moved to Canada.

So in that case you would ignore the UK stint.

Re: Coronavirus

I don’t understand why fully vaccinated people should have to quarantine. We will never get out of lockdown in this case. Double vaccine is as good as it gets, that’s the new best case scenario.

Re: Issues with completing Citizenship Application

For the paper forms, I think so. Online you don’t have to worry about uncertainties like this :)

Re: Issues with completing Citizenship Application

Re: Issues with completing Citizenship Application

If you’re a single applicant and have nothing weird like time spent with crown employed spouse overseas etc, you can apply online. It’s supposed to be randomly selecting 1 in 11 applicants for this...

Re: Has Canada's pandemic response made you consider moving back to UK/Europe?

Yeah I find it hard to take any positives from the UK response. Got lucky with the vaccine (as much as France was unlucky with their two domestic efforts). Everything else has been expensive,...

Re: real estate prices in Canada sustainable?

This was us 4 years ago 100%. Small flat in NW London zone 3, wanting to stay within London if in UK, and facing ~700k GBP differential to buy a decent house. So in moving to Toronto the deciding...

Re: PR renewal / citizenship question

So your PR card has expired. If you do nothing, you lose no rights, other than international travel.

It'll likely take a while to get citizenship in current environment. I'd personally renew my PR...

Re: Keeping UK bank accounts open after moving to Canada

Auto-top-up is useful if you use it often enough - I find I don't, so I need to be told to use my phone to keep the number alive. If holidaying in UK or EU I recommend a goody bag.

Re: Keeping UK bank accounts open after moving to Canada

Why do they care if you top up from abroad? Why do they care if you're based abroad? There's no need to geo-check - your SIM card tells them where it is :)

Re: Keeping UK bank accounts open after moving to Canada

Yes I think with GiffGaff you can only top up with a debit / credit card anyway. It's not like Lyca or those corner shop SIM cards. It's owned by O2. I recommend it to everyone in the UK too. I used...

Re: Keeping UK bank accounts open after moving to Canada
