Re: Is UK education going to be impossible after australia.

Just another lot of scaremongering by the media I think....try this for a fair and balanced analysis of the real state of reading in our Primary/Secondary schools.
Our 8 year old daughter returned...

Re: NZ Scary story - or what ?

Stick to the facts? Sure. Why have you lumped in my views on NZ education with the views of others entirely unrelated? I'm sorry you have a problem with my posts as I have leapt to conclusions...

Re: NZ Scary story - or what ?

[QUOTE=lily34]I wasn't suggesting that - altho I would assume that maybe you (and your wife) aren't teaching in inner city schools? My partner teaches 9-11 year olds at inner city schools in...

Re: NZ Scary story - or what ?

Re: Thoughts and advice needed for moving back to UK from NZ

Hi there. In my opinion, having been in a similar situation, I would say plan your return very carefully, be sure of what you are going to do when you return and don't look back!
As regards...

Re: Regrets about moving back??? Help!

Only you can truly make that decision. It is a very personal choice. Thinking clearly about what you are returning to in the UK helps. I truly appreciate what you are saying about friends/family. It...

Re: Missing UK Gold in the Olympics

This has been touched on many times on this forum. The article you have included reminds me very much of NZ's attitude towards the 'poms' and sport. Praise is grudging at best and failure is greeted...

Re: NZ great for some, but not all

So following your devastating logic I am now entitled to say 'I don't like it here, I am not happy here, and that is about the sum of it'. And excusing yourself for saying exactly what you think, ie...

Re: Missing UK Gold in the Olympics

The UK media at least celebrates great achievement from whomever and whichever country. THAT'S the difference.

Re: NZ great for some, but not all

I am always astounded when people react as if you had farted in their lift. As if it's personal!

Re: NZ great for some, but not all

I don't remember saying otherwise! However if you read the entire piece you will see that that is not the only major issue facing NZ. Of course these problems are not specific to NZ, but when all I...

Git am I? Charmed I'm sure. As regards balanced opinion I gues you will have posted all of your negative feelings about NZ? NO, I didn't think so. In which case where is that balance YOU are so keen...

NZ great for some, but not all

I feel sympathy for those expats turned Kiwis who leap to the defense of their adopted country because someone said something nasty about it. Poor people. Perhaps they are happy ignoring the problems...

Re: That one vital thing that drives us back...

The implication that you either 'get it or don't' implies that Australian humour is deep and/or special. It isn't. It's simple and straightforward. It also suggests if you don't 'get it' you are...

Re: New Zealand - A place to live?

It TOTALLY depends what you're giving up and what it is you're expecting to find. NZ is a long way from anywhere and mistakes can cost you dear.

Having come back form NZ where industrial language is prevalent if not compulsory I can honestly say the UK is no worse than anywhere else I've been. I swear, of course, but not in front of the...

Re: That one vital thing that drives us back...

We spent 4 years in NZ and we felt exactly the same way. In fact we have good friends who are due back in October and they can't wait.
