Re: Visa Help - how can we get to Australia? Business Analyst

Would agree a 186 would likely be the fastest way if they have Australian offices. It's a permanent visa allowing you to live and work where you want. You do still need the skills assessment done for...

Re: Some Queensland coast climate advice please

A couple of years ago we did Cairns for New Year followed by Brisbane the week after. My general gauge for as hot as I like to go used to be the weather in Florida in June (went there quite a bit...

First time tax return - foreign income

Sorry for the boring tax question here. Wondered how you're supposed to enter "foreign employment income" (if at all) for the period before you got to Australia, that falls within the period July 1st...

Re: Spiders living near Melbourne / Lara / werribee

Further north than VIC, but I've only seen a couple of smaller (still bigger than anything I saw back in Canada) Huntsman spiders. The two I caught were very happy to bugger off as soon as I let them...

Re: AQIS inspection times

Thanks rammygirl Yes we are moving with Allied Pickfords. On the Canadian end they were pretty responsive to questions. Here it hasn't been quite so easy with a few copy and paste responses to...

AQIS inspection times

I read quite a lot on here about quarantine inspection costs and general requirements, and the odd thing getting pulled aside. What I haven't seen much on (forgive me if it has been covered) is the...

Re: What's the Temperature & Weather like where you are now?

Thanks spouse of scouse Kim67 Ever since I went to Orlando as a young teen in 1994 I wanted to move somewhere warm but also loved watching those Florida downpour thunderstorms. Looks like by...

Rego/car insurance/license while in temp accommodation

Hi everyone,

I found a few posts on this type of question but most were 5 years old or more, so thought I’d test the waters and see if anyone had done this more recently.

We are coming over...

Re: ENS 186 question for engineers who don't do licensed work

Just to close the thread on this, a company letter was evidently sufficient to outline job duties and explain why licensing for my employer's position was not needed. Got the 186 awarded today!

Re: ENS 186 question for engineers who don't do licensed work

Thanks Paul, yes I agree with you that the company itself will need to come through here. Depending on what I get back from them, I might end up getting some legal advice to ensure I get the format...

ENS 186 question for engineers who don't do licensed work

Hi all,

Might be a narrow band of people who actually have been through this process, but thought I'd ask anyway and maybe get lucky. I've applied on a 186 and had the nomination approved. For the...

Re: Melbourne or Brisbane for a British family?

Thanks Pollyana, I'll take a look at this. I also noticed a handy map (https://www.zeemaps.com/map?group=897112) today showing where some users have chosen to display where they live. That'll help as...

Re: Melbourne or Brisbane for a British family?

Regarding suburbs near Brisbane with enough centre of gravity to have their own shopping and facilities, my wife and I (who I should point out are not in Australia yet) were looking south into the...

Re: Moving to Australia

Well of course, staying within concrete walls 24/7 will do that for you, won't it?

I'd be happy to see that research, but it appears they don't provide any. "Research shows" is an empty...

Re: Moving to Australia

Where to start with this? There is, unfortunately, a lot of misinformation on the web, and just about everything you wrote is incorrect. Every ingredient in sunscreen needs to be tested by government...

Re: Moving to Australia

I'm very much a newcomer here. My first thread had a little skepticism associated with our long planning process too, 4-5 years, but all the points made were fair even if I don't plan to act on all...

Re: Introduction, and 'the plan'

Absolutely no dim-ness implied ! Very thankful for the time you've all taken to reply to me.

Yes that is exactly it, just having more of a cash position to throw at it.

Re: Introduction, and 'the plan'

This is just whether you want a bigger mortgage in Aus or a smaller one. Smaller is going to work better as you'll have lower payments and less pressure if jobs take a while to sort out, if there are...

Re: Introduction, and 'the plan'

Thanks once again for the replies.

Yes, property here has been a lucky investment for many in Canada, especially if you bought in the early 2000s. Not in Toronto or Vancouver here unfortunately,...
