Re: What to do with UK car in NL?

Re: Police Officer moving to Canada

I do recall when I worked in Canada meeting 2 RCMP officers who were ex British Service policemen (1 x Navy and 1 x WRAF); both were married to Canadians (perhaps it was this that got them into the...

Re: Planespotting II

Not a pilot, but spent a lot of time upfront in my 24 years in the military, varied from small helicopters to wide-body jets; loading, unloading, preparation, trim-sheets, ground marshalling and...

Re: Moving to EU after Brexit

The only one's I can think of are dual-nationals; for example my children will all be able to what you describe.

Re: Planespotting II

The Conways in a VC10 were really distinctive; probably my favourite aircraft having flown and worked with it for 25 years. The last taxying version will also go with Bruntingthorpe's demise.

Re: Planespotting II

Saw it being discussed elsewhere; apparently not suitable for much more than what it does already; there was a rumour going around that the RAF might be interested to replace the C-17's that they've...

Re: Registering foreign vehicle in the UK

The biggest problem I ever had with a LHD car in the UK was getting a replacement exhaust as the steering box on the LHD car blocked the way for the RHD exhaust; ended up having cut and weld some...

Re: Registering foreign vehicle in the UK

It's described on the UK Gov website; this link (https://www.gov.uk/importing-vehicles-into-the-uk) will take you straight there. I did it some time ago, it was no hassle at all.

Re: Planespotting II

May be able to offer an insight; from another place - at sea level, water boils at 100 °C (212 °F). For every 500-foot (150 m) increase in elevation, water's boiling point is lowered by approximately...

Re: Which EU countries have best safety net for disabled or unemployed?

Thank you; I agree with what you've said. My only real comment is that in some EU countries, medical insurance is not voluntary and you must pay from the day you arrive. How much that costs may be...

Re: Which EU countries have best safety net for disabled or unemployed?

I should apologise for my rather short reply last night; in my defence, I was using an iPhone and having fingers like fish-fingers, I hate using them for this kind of conversation. My concern is...

Re: Which EU countries have best safety net for disabled or unemployed?

Which Is why I said work-visa, a national wouldn't be there on a work-visa, they would have the right to live and work there.

Re: Moving to EU after Brexit

If your friend moved to (for example) Holland (a Schengen country) and gained a resident permit, that permit would, together with a valid national passport, act as a temporary visa to visit (not live...

Re: What happens to bank accounts when leaving the UK?

I've been asking this question recently as we're planning on moving back to Holland from the UK in the not too far distant future; it seems that the only reason that UK citizens were able to open a...

Re: Which EU countries have best safety net for disabled or unemployed?

Quick answer, none of them, all work visas have that little clause in them that permit the host country to return you to where you came from should you become a burden on the state. I can't think of...
