Re: Traveling to UK Use American or British Passport ?

It seems the ETA requirement is not being enforced at the moment - I travelled back to the UK last month and used my US passport everywhere (at check in for the flight from the US to the UK and at...

Re: Travel to UK, dual passport holder. What about the ETA?

I don't think BA (or any airline to be honest) is actually able to check if you have an ETA at the moment.

Re: State Tax Withholding NY/NJ

You're overthinking this - submit the NJ W-4 as normal (without making crazy adjustments) and I am 99.999% sure that your employer's payroll software will correctly withhold taxes. As NYS tax rates...

Re: Treasury & IRS Exchange Rate 2024

Having tried a few different services I like it, it's genuinely free for Federal returns and $14.99 per state.

Dual US/UK Citizens - Make sure your UK Passport is valid if you want to visit!

I thought I'd post this as a PSA in case people were unaware that the UK is introducing an ETA scheme (like the US ESTA) where you will need to apply for permission to travel.

US Citizens are...

Re: Kamala and her Democrats vs the Donald and his Republicans: Best for Visas?

The last time Trump was in power he did everything he could to gum up the legal immigration system - wait times went up massively, they introduced mandatory interviews for AOS, they made un-friendly...

Re: Beef Oxo cubes. Yay, or nay?

Yes, the chicken one is good too.

Costco has them for a good price if you're a member.

Re: MA tax penatly and interest

Not necessarily, there is usually a safe harbor based on last year's tax bill that might exempt you from a penalty.

I owe NYS over $2k this year and don't have to pay a penalty because of the safe...

Re: CA State Tax Filing Question - 540 and 540NR Submitted... But Why?

I used TurboTax for the first few years I was here but switched to FreeTaxUSA in 2020 and haven't looked back - Federal is totally free and state returns are $15 which is good if you have to file in...

Re: US Citizenship Interview Exam Delay

It's not uncommon at all.

My husband and I applied for citizenship on the same day in October 2022, I had my interview (and ceremony) in January 2023 but my husband had to wait until April 2023.

Re: Let's talk about cars

Every EV that I'm aware of won't let you do that. It just won't go into D/R with anything connected to the charge port, even if it's not powered.

Re: Getting through Customs/Immigration faster at US airports - MPC App

I applied to renew my GE in March and got approval in 48 hours, no interview required. My husband renewed his last week and had the same experience.

Re: Do you carry your Green Card with you at all times in US?

Nope, in my 5 and a bit years as a LPR I never carried my green card. I left it at home in the safe and kept a scanned copy in iCloud like you.

YMMV obviously, perhaps if you live near the Mexican...

Re: Renewing UK passport from overseas - dual citizen

That table asks for "A full colour copy of any other uncancelled passports relating to you" if you're renewing from outside the UK... not the original passport.

I think if you're renewing from...

Re: EB-3 - Adjustment of Status or Consular Processing?

Oh fair enough, that is pretty quick if it's accurate.

I still think I'd lean towards AOS though - imagine if you get put in Administrative Processing for weeks/months in the UK with no recourse...

Re: EB-3 - Adjustment of Status or Consular Processing?

I would do AOS, doesn't the I-140 have to go to the NVC for processing before you can book an appointment with the embassy too which could add months of waiting?
