We're here on a 457 and it's big agro factor to change. If you can, bide your time and apply for residency soonest.

we're here on a 457 work visa (temporary resident) and had no problem putting our son into the local school. Didn't have to pay anything other than usual fees for school uniform, books etc....

Received confirmation that our 457 visa had been finalised and were issued with a number, via e-mail, to give to passport control when we land in Melbourne?

We were at least expecting a stamp in...

Debs; submitted visa application on 3rd January and received visa on 21st. Had to have x-rays only, our son (12 years old) had to have x-ray and medical.
Incidently, we were only issued with a visa...
