Hi My wife and I are 6 weeks into our 457 application.
So far we got our nomination number on the 12th January 2004, started our online application on the 15th January, 30th January confirmation given of sent documents, 1st february medicals requested, due to extra tests required medicals were sent on 26th february to sydney. Presently waiting for confirmation from case officer that meds are ok and for grant of visa. Advised in forums that this should take a week from them receiving medicals.
House now sold, just waiting for completetion date and for grant of visa so can go an book tickets.

Incidently, we were only issued with a visa number on a letter head that we have to produce on arrival. Then take passport to immigration office in Melbourne to have visa stamped.
Good luck with yours

Typical times for the 457 is 3 weeks, but could take longer due to the current volume of applicants.
This is according to Australian News Paper.

Sponsor applied in Mid January. DIMIA request more information and the Part 1 was okayed on 19 Feb. Coming up for 3 weeks later and Part 2 has not come back so we haven't even applied.
Did meds on 12 Feb, identified a heart murmur on my daughter and had a note on my X-Ray of an unfolded aorta. Doc isn't concerned about the second, but refers duaghter to consultant.
Daughter had a hole in the heart diagnosed on 4 & 5th April. No treatment required. Discovered that the Sydney Clearing house will probably refer this to the HAS and this will take anything between 4-16 weeks. We are now looking at a serious delay, possibly until September. Having a chat with my sponsor on Thursday, don't know if the job is still open.
We've also got a 136 visa in the background, meds and police requests are due soon.
3 weeks processing for a 457 is incorrect, we are coming up for week 8, and we still haven't actually applied yet.

Hiya Paul,
Yep, it does seem incorrect in your case. The 3 weeks are merely typical processing times as quoted in the Australian News paper.
It does go on to say that it might take longer if there are complications and also due to high volumes of applicants.
Hope all goes well for ya.
