Re: Non Resident Bank Accounts help!!?

Just a quick check. Whilst on a wander today I walked past a couple of Santander banks though the atm outside actually had Telebanco on it.

Is it the same when you use the santander atm's?

Re: Non Resident Bank Accounts help!!?

I went into a Bankia bank just to ask about an account.

They basically told me I can open a cuenta corriente (current account) with just my passport.

Costs 12 euros a quarter = 48 euros. With a...

Re: Non Resident Bank Accounts help!!?

Well that's good to know. I take it you've done this recently.

I wonder if it's the same for a 'Standard' Santander account (i.e.- not a paid one like 123).

As a side note I think Santander are...

Re: Getting Internet in Spain

Hi. I've heard that the 'utility companies' can be a bit 'dodgy'. So that sounds like a good idea.

But how would it work? Say for example if they take money out by direct debit (automatically)...

Re: Getting Internet in Spain

Thanks for the input. But I'll be renting a flat for a year - so I'm not sure if that's the best option or not. I don't really know how it works - like how much the data costs.

I avoid using my UK...

Re: Move to Spain 2016????

Wow! I completely forgot it was "Guy Fawkes Night".

When you're abroad it's kind of like your home Country doesn't exist unless you want it to (i.e. - you call home or go looking for news...

Re: Non Resident Bank Accounts help!!?

I'll have to look into that, as I've never used a money transfer service before so unsure of how it works. Though of course my account is in £ sterling not $ dollars.

Re: Non Resident Bank Accounts help!!?

Hi. I'm not so sure about that.

When I tried researching this the other day I found an article that stated Santander are one of the most expensive. I could use a UK Santander card, but have...

Re: Non Resident Bank Accounts help!!?

I guess I could actually pay rent, bills, internet on-line, so it could work-out.

Do you ever transfer non euro money into your account? I'm just wondering how that would work with conversion...

Re: Move to Spain 2016????

I'm in the process of doing something similar for another family member. As it's got to ground-hog day point where nothing has changed for 3 years and isn't ever likely too. So I'm thinking that a...

Re: Non Resident Bank Accounts help!!?

I was only just talking about this a couple of hours ago.

I was enquiring about a free account here in Spain that I can open with just my passport as ID. I was told that I'd need a NIE (not by the...

Re: Getting Internet in Spain

Thanks for the input everyone.

Well the speed isn't the main concern - I've found a "1mb" connection to be fine in England - though it's actually been slower (probably due to the wiring and the...

Re: Getting Internet in Spain

Hi. Thanks for the responses.

I won't be in the sticks so a signal shouldn't be a problem. But yeah - as in the UK - the phone lines and whether it's set up for cable might be. I prefer unlimited...

Re: Getting Internet in Spain
