Re: Possible job offer in Kitchener

As mentioned above, there's really not a good option for commuter train service from Mississauga to Kitchener at the moment, so it's a drive west on the 401.

Re: Under sealant and rust proofing a new car

As someone who worked in the automotive manufacturing industry for a number of years, the 'add-ons' at the dealership (rust proofing, fabric protection, clearcoat protection) are essentially ways for...

Re: Just moved to Ottawa - job hungry! But...

Not unusual in Canada/USA for there to be a long delay between application and response. A number of companies will post a position, and then collect resumes for up to a month before going through...

Re: Why is Canadian politics boring?

Comedian Jebb Fink (born in the US, moved to Canada), has a bit where he notes that, for a number of Americans, growing up to be President is an aspiration, but that Canadian parents don't encourage...

Re: Favourite Job Hunting Resources/sites

As someone who has been job hunting for awhile, I'll second the nomination of Indeed (in Canada it's indeed.ca) and LinkedIn. If you go to the 'advanced' screen for Indeed, you can set up multiple...

Re: Don't car jack a manual car

When Chrysler Dodge reintroduced the Charger a few years back - I was appalled that the only transmission option was automatic (it still is the only transmission option). The Challenger at least has...

Re: Don't car jack a manual car

I suspect that the manager was trying to be diplomatic with a customer who didn't know how to drive stick, and perhaps didn't realize the default booking was for a manual transmission at that...

Re: United airlines PR disaster

Apparently in this case, it wasn't a result of an overbooked flight. It was a result of having to put four United employees on the flight to Louisville, presumably so that they could crew a flight...

Re: What are Hamilton, Brampton and Mississauga like to live and work?

I don't lock my car either - I don't keep anything of value in the car at all, so keeping it unlocked means that I don't have to pay for damage to the car that people cause when trying to break in. ...
