moving to Vancouver

I remember walking to work, waiting for lights to change to cross and suddenly being aware of a number of people using.
I thought how on earth did people pass the time waiting for lights to change in 'the old days' before texting.
And a coffee in the other.
Perhaps these phones are so smart they alert the user to such things.

More and more people, especially those under 50, walk around with their heads down and staring at something in their hand.
I don't think they even notice if they walk on some doggy-do left on the street

I'm not yet in Vancouver (but will be emigrating there eventually), but every time I visit I look up at the mountains of the north shore and I am reminded of Psalm 121 "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help."
Now, I am not in the least bit religious, but I do find the mountains of the north shore comforting.
Sometimes small things such as looking at one's physical surrounds can provide inspiration and courage.

Although many have commented and I have been to Vancouver the scenery is beautiful but scenery doesn't pay the bills.

Don't get me wrong, I know you can't eat the view and it won't pay the bills. I was just trying to provide some cheer to the OP. To paraphrase the old Polish saying "it's better to be rich and happy than poor and sad", it's better to have a nice view than a bad one.
