Re: coming to Canada, and the future of our children

Site Rule #16 covers multiple user names. I am not clear why this rule can be applied, since I only used the same user name as always.

I am a bit surprised an confused to the reaction. I don't...

Re: coming to Canada, and the future of our children

I was not aware of that. In the country I was educate we always compared to the education system of other countries.

I don't really know why the tread has been closed so quickly? I wasn't even able to respond.

Since I haven't been educated in the UK, I was always wondering how the UK education system would...

Re: Canada ETA

As far as I know the Queen doesn't even have a passport and also no driver's license, even though she can drive. However, I also don't know what kind of travel document she requires when she...

Re: coming to Canada, and the future of our children

I guess, we all came from somewhere in Europe.

For some immigrants the move to Canada will probably have that thought of a better life for their children in mind....

coming to Canada, and the future of our children

Has the thought and decision to immigrate to Canada by any of you been influenced by the thought of a better future for your children?

Is the education system better in Canada, than the UK?

Is...

Re: Canada ETA

is it still in the status of "proposed" or is this a law which has been passed?

the Queen is actually the head of Canada, so she should be exempt. During her absence in Canada she is represented...

Re: Citizenship test

back in 2008 the test was very very easy. There was a book called "A closer look at Canada" which I studied extensively, I knew every page, for the event the test would be tricky.

In reality...

Re: Passport Renewal

I renewed mine about a year ago. I walked into the passport office myself, handed all the paperwork in. It's all very easy and un-bureaucratic once the paperwork is filled out. Paid $50 more (...

Re: CETA and importing a vehicle from the EU to Canada

@Steve

Thanks for the comprehensive answer. Maybe I overestimated CETA. I somewhat feel it was "marketed and advertized" as more, but promises way less.

However, I should also be old...

Re: Rental in Vancouver ($1,300) Budget

$ 1,300 is realistic, however, it'll be something simple ( a one bedroom or a studio, kitchen and bathr0om in 70ies style ), or a bit further away.

Vancouver's real estate market can easily be...

Re: Do you still have to wait 2 days after your Citizenship Ceremony before Passport

I was not aware of these changes. I guess, these changes don't apply to me anymore, as it seems to be a one time thing for a first passport application.

Re: Do you still have to wait 2 days after your Citizenship Ceremony before Passport

I was not aware of this "2 days" waiting period.

When I was naturalized in 2008, I recall some people went straight to the passport office afterwards to apply for their first passport.

CETA and importing a vehicle from the EU to Canada

Re: employment rights

I think two weeks is the norm in Canada. Employer as well as employee can both leave on two weeks notice, unless otherwise expressed in the contract.

In the UK it's a little more, in Germany or...
