Re: Qatar airways - Grade 9 Role - Accommodation

I don't know what "grade 9" is or means but in general QA lease whole apartment buildings or compounds and offer staff options from that wholly controlled portfolio. Means they can post their own...

Re: Ehteraz app in Qatar

Oh yuck, well I did 14 days at the Westin back in Jul/Aug, not rushing to repeat it. I was paid but still no picnic.
Just a thought, presume your phone number is a local one.
Mine took an age to...

Re: Quarantine hotel in Qatar when arriving from UK

Well you never know, regulations seem subject to change without much in the way of notice but in the last few weeks we have had a bunch of arrivals and the quarantine hotels have been a mixture of:

Re: Vaccine rollout in the UAE

I'm in Qatar but home is in Thailand.

I'm thinking that once vaccinated, and assuming you cannot be a carrier, quarantine should no longer be a necessity. For sure it will be necessary to show...

Re: "The Sandpit" ?

Globally speaking I consider the ME generally as a bit of a pit. I honestly don't know many people who say "When I retire I really want to move to the Middle East" Lots of reasons and everyone...

Re: Back in the pit

Sorry I only just saw this.
Entrance was by special visa. I'm working on a project that is considered crucial for 2022 and the client, a government entity, was able to secure special visas with...

Re: Back in the pit

Hi,
I've spent some time in UAE, all over, but only for short periods of a couple of months to a few weeks, same in Oman, Saudi, Kuwait and Bahrain. Qatar is the only place that I have spent...

Re: Back in the pit

Quarantine is up this Sunday so will be waiting for Ehteraz to go green. Likely going to move to a hotel apartment or some such until I can figure out where I want to be. Office planning is underway...

Re: Unmarried couple wanting to relocate to Dubai

A friend once used to say, never mind the country, if you want a stockbroker lifestyle you better be a stockbroker. Don't take a job in this region if you need 2 jobs just to hang in there. Crap, I...

Thanks for the info. Pricey and crap, yes, sounds about right, though less pricey these days but just as crap. I'm in quarantine at the moment so can't get out to check anything but will spend a week...

I recently secured a new position in Doha. I left after an almost 5 year stint at the end of 2017 and have returned on occasion to do small one off short term projects. Now very happy to be back and...
