The UK passport issuing process for Brits born (like my 18 month-old son) abroad is a total disgrace too. :thumbdown:

It is apparently taking a year or more now, for them to come up with a first...

From what you (OP) have described, you are still a tourist, regardless of the status/passport of your wife (and Balikbayan is a privilege given to you at the discretion of the immigration officer......

Well I'd just be using a fan, as to pay that amount of money for aircon (on my budget) would be ridiculous, as well as totally unnecessary, as fortunately I know I can manage without.

I'd like to retire there too...on a small income, but I've never used aircon in the Phils. I've lived there before for periods of up...

I was talking to my Filipina wife (of 22 years) about this, and she agreed with me.
She also didn't like the way you were demeaning and stereotyping...

She got a relevant answer...as I've lived as an expat in Subic and other parts of the Phils for over 23 years, and I'm British.

Probably best to not let your hubby out of the house if you are so insecure in your relationship, and if you have such a negative view of Filipinas without (perhaps) even having visited the country,...
