Re: USCIS Fee Increase

Filed my N-400 last week because I had heard of these proposed changes. If anyone is thinking of doing it I'd jump on it before the increases come in!

Re: The future of exchange rate from pounds sterling to US $...any opinions?

Markets hate uncertainty and I think uncertainty is what we're in for.

Re: Apartment burgled

Agreed! As well as regular range trips, I would encourage self-defence classes and a firearm training course.

Re: Apartment burgled

Clearly you meant burglarized ;)

Sorry this happened. If she does acquire a firearm, make sure she's comfortable using it. Plenty of range trips needed.

Re: Anyone used Norwegian Air?

Going to be going from MCO - LGW in a couple of weeks using Norwegian. Taking my 6 year old son with me. Cost $1200 for both of us but if we'd have booked earlier I suspect we could have got it...

Re: Wow airline

Norwegian is good, but their cheapest options are only carry on luggage which suits some, their entertainment options are very good though.

Re: Annual leave / vacation time US

The company I'm at accrues time as you go throughout the year, so currently I accrue 6.77 hours every pay period as well as two "floating holidays" and 8 official holidays.

At the end of the...

Re: Bugs - anyone recognize?

The pantry beetles was my first thought. Just had some down here eating their way through cereal and oats. Apparently they often get into your house through the food, via the factory. Who knows how...

Re: Frivolous things I don't understand

They never fail to make me have a coughing fit. Nothing says autumn like coughing your way to the Publix deli.

People who shave off eye brows to draw on less convincing ones.

Re: Hurricane Irma

Amazingly all seemed to lose electricity around us, but we kept it the whole time. Couple of tree limbs down in the garden but no structural damage to the home. This whole process has been a learning...

Re: Hurricane Irma

A little more wind shear about is good news too, saying it should hit as a 4 and weaken significantly. Reckon 80-100mph winds up near Tampa, I wouldn't want to be in a mobile home, but our concrete...

Re: Hurricane Irma

We've been running out of gas and water since Monday up here and we're on the least likely side of FL to get anything that destructive. Schools are shut to be used as shelters, so my son is pretty...

Re: Hurricane Irma

Looking like a bit of a nightmare scenario for SE Florida, Miami taking a direct hit and then going all the way up the coast before hitting Georgia/SC still as an extremely strong storm. Time for it...

Re: Hurricane Irma

I really should have that made into a t-shirt and take a walk through Miami, those old Cubans don't seem to understand that.

For what it's worth the forecasting models have it now missing Cuba...

Re: Hurricane Irma

The only thing I ever hear about Cuba and hurricanes is how good it is that their mountainous regions tear apart big storms, naturally nothing about the plight of the Cuban people.

Because they're pinkos and their lives aren't worth worrying about ;)

No, really I think it's because Cuba is after all those you have mentioned. It will be covered, but I imagine because media...

Re: Hurricane Irma

Not looking forward to this one, I've had it relatively quite since I moved in 2006 but Irma looks ominous. Hope all in the Caribbean stay safe.

Re: What's up with the Bread here?!!

Nature's Own have recently come out with a bread with no sugar and no high fructose corn syrup. It's pretty good, and is now my go to loaf unless I fancy making my own. Toast tastes likes toast...

Re: Toddlers

My two and a half year old called me a f***er this morning.

Good morning to you too.

That's the last time I let him watch me do some DIY. Picks up words something awful.

Re: WTF in the UK again?

My favourite are vegetarian sausages. People who eat meat aren't entirely sure what's in regular sausages, can't imagine what goes into a vegetarian one and it does not have to be that arbitrary...

Re: Things you miss about the UK

NHS, obviously.

Living in Florida, temperate weather with a definite change in seasons would occasionally be nice. We can always move though, you can find most climates in the country somewhere....
