I'll start with a recent query. In the foyer area at publix, Halloween stuff:

Why cinnamon scented brooms? (And over-poweringly so, at least with loads of them in a bin together)

Cinnamon (and nutmeg to a lesser extent) are generally considered holiday fragrances that conjure up a memory of autumn moving towards winter. IMO, the brooms are largely irrelevant - it's the scent that's the draw.
