Hi, everyone, I'm attempting to head back to the UK from Canada for a second time but, frankly, there's been so many issues this time around, that I'm wondering if it's perhaps not meant to be...?

Re: Canadian RRIF payments received in the UK.

Just to throw a spanner in the works: I've picked up something very different: RRIFs ARE subject to a withholding tax in Canada (after all, Canada deferred collection of that income tax when you...

Re: Tor query with pet

You sound like your move is a lot more advanced than mine - I'm still waiting on a house sale. When are you planning to enter the UK?

Re: Tor query with pet

Thanks for your post and I understand that you will need to include your pet on the TOR because you're entering the UK from outside of the EU. "The ToR1 has replaced the following forms: ... Import...

Tor query with pet

A few years ago I returned to the UK from Canada for a few months but ended up coming back to Canada. Four years later, I can't settle and am ready to return to the UK again. Last time, I flew to...

Re: Upakweship

Did everything go according to plan on the 30th? I used them a couple of times in 2015 and everything went like clockwork. But as I'm now officially a ping-ponger and heading back to the UK for...

Re: Mortgage in Uk

I moved back to the UK from Canada 4 years ago but despite having an ongoing business that I was intending to continue in the UK with the same clients I'd had for the previous 6 years, and being able...

Re: VoIP recommendations for Canadian number?

You might want to take a look at Vonage. I've been with them for 14 years, at two different addresses. Excellent service, no issues at all. And they bill in Canadian dollars.

Re: HOW can we rent in the UK?!?!

Have you tried gumtree.com and craigslist, both for looking for private lets and to post your own ad requesting a rental? You could offer to house-sit for people going away for the winter. Which...

Re: HOW can we rent in the UK?!?!

Why I asked if you were waiting, have you checked with the airlines that they will fly your dog during the winter? I was told they can refuse to accept pets if the temperature is forecast to be...

Re: HOW can we rent in the UK?!?!

Congrats on DH's job and great place to live too (my old stomping ground). Just curious, are you waiting now 'til the spring before you join him? You're in Montreal, right?

Re: No wars, just opinions - location

I don't know Thurnscoe so can't comment on that at all. But I lived in Leicester for 13 years, 21 years ago, before I left to come to Canada. Of course it will have changed in that time but I LOVED...

Re: GPS tracking devices

Thanks, both, for your replies. Magnumpi, do you have any experience with this tracker yourself as the reviews on Amazon don't sound promising.

And, Jsmth, I don't really want the ongoing...

GPS tracking devices

For the second time this year, our community mail boxes are being targeted by some lowlife who thinks stealing our mail is easier than working for a living. Canada Post appear to be doing nothing. ...

Re: Moving from Romania to UK

Oh, you're 15? My mistake.

I'm sure you have an opinion, most people do, but on the subject of how much it costs to live in the UK, yours would be an uninformed opinion as you have never lived...

Re: Moving from Romania to UK

Heathrow_0808, you might want to be careful taking advice from a 16-year-old child, who is still at school, lives with his parents in Canada and has never lived in the UK.

Re: Leasing cars in the UK

In an earlier post, you complained that Malta doesn't lease cars. Are you seriously going to base your decision of which country to move to on whether or not they lease cars?

re: Any regrets about moving back to the UK?

As much as I would love to arrange a meet-up back in the UK, I'm not there yet! My return is, like many others on here, waiting on a house sale in Canada.

But what about you, John, arranging a...

My feelings exactly. I picked up in another thread that you're in Devon -- that's a beautiful part of the world. There are others who have returned to Devon -- how about arranging some meet-ups?

Re: Fluctuating Homesickness

If that's the case, then you're pretty much waiting 'til you're 18 before you can do anything without your parents' permission. So time to get on with your schooling. When you're 18, the world will...
