If you have no joy with Judy's tips, you could consider moving somewhere most Canadians don't want to go (generally North!!!).

We did the same as you on a BUNAC visa 3 1/2 years...

I think you have to give it a try and live day to day life to see if is for you. We lived in Kelowna for a while but really didn't feel good about it (It was for work for a while).....................

We came under BUNAC in 2004 (I think)............. and are now PR's and have a baby with a Canadian passport (That wasn't part of the process!!).

We plan to get a british passport for the baby at some point, but were not sure if we could do that from Canada, before we go back to the UK for a holiday.

Loads of people have gone down the route you outlined, so it is do-able....

The chances are you may need to extend your work visa a couple of times past BUNAC, which means doing the HRSDC thing...

I thought a SIN through SWAP was the quickest way to get a number, they email the number to you pretty quickly. They have some sort of 'Bulk Process' thing I think.....
