Re: First Few Days in Toronto

I'm guessing you will be activating your visas (landing) when you arrive on the 19th.

The immigration official will ask for a permanent address to send your PR card to. If you can't provide one...

Re: whats the weirdest thing someone has said to you about moving...

I think people just want "approval" from their families. Not wishing for them to fail miserably and come crawling back, so they can be smug and say I told you so. Two sides to every story I guess.

Re: Anyone ever used Hotwire.com?

I've used hotwire on numerous occasions too, if your not particularly bothered where you stay on a specific street then its a good deal. It just gives you a general idea where you might be staying.

Re: landing and opening a bank account - credit rating?

I'm looking at doing the same over Xmas. I'm wondering if it's possible to get a uk credit report and bring it as you open a bank account or if it won't be worth the paper it's written on.

Re: whats the weirdest thing someone has said to you about moving...

Bitter and twisted arn't the words. I bet they have never been to anywhere in Canada? Or even travelled? You can only use that kind of negativity as energy to succeed and prove them wrong.

Re: whats the weirdest thing someone has said to you about moving...

The best I've had is "what if it doesn't work out". To me that's like saying why dont I never take a risk in my life and then start saying "if only" when your old and knackered.

Re: To land now or later?

Re: To land now or later?

I know I have to provide proof of funds to satisfy the minimum limit. I'm also aware of the capital gains involved with exchange rates. It just confuses me how they are able to know if you make a...
