Been here 2 years, love the greeness, the rainforest, reef, wildlife etc.

The Esplanade is indeed very good for birds but come on, it's mud ! apparently there used to be a really nice sandy...

We've been in Cairns 2 years.

Sold house in uk for 168k (mortgage was 70k), bought one here for 200k (mortgage 140k).

I'm glad we moved to Oz, and wouldn't go back even though there is a part...

Wife works in MH at Cairns Base, they've stopped recruiting at the moment for MH nurses I believe but not sure what the score is for General nurses.

It's the low season at the moment for tourists...

The birds that nest at the top of pylons are Ospreys (sometimes called Brown Sea Eagles).

I love it here - lizards everywhere in the garden, rhino beetles (inc. huge larvae in the mulch), flying...

Long time since I've been on, will have been in Oz for 2 years straight in April.

My question : I assume that, since we got our PR visas in Jan 2004 that we only have to do 2 years...

Tv is cack but you do get all your CSI, NCIS etc. on TV here if those are the US shows you're talking...

lucky you indeed mate. you realise that you lid won't be legal in Oz? I'm sure they'd never check and at the end of the day it will be the same lid just with an ACU gold sticker instead of the oz...

Not sure TBH but if you hang around the servo on the road to The Port (Douglas) people meet there, or there's a pub at the bottom of the Gillies where people meet to do the Range.

We're waiting on exact quote but around $10-12k PLUS appliances, mainly drawers, reconstituted stone tops plus any tiling, electrics needed.

We live in Trinity Park, have done for a few months now. Never had any problems.

They could be lying I suppose but according to the local newsletter, Trinity Park has the lowest crime rate of all...

I have just signed up to savvytel.

They are a prepaid mobile service that runs on vodaphone network. The reason I have signed up with them is because they offer prepaid vouchers that NEVER run out...

The number of Birds of Prey here astounds me !

We had a huge white bellied Sea Eagle circling over our house the other week. there is on lives near Palm Cove too, if you go and stand on the pier...
