That's a fair point....
We did the insurance thing on the way there, and on the way back decided to only go with total loss coverage. Worked out fine for us, no damage or breakages.

If it's not very important for you to travel on the same flight as your cat/dog, then that would be ok to book passenger ticket first, then animal ticket later, and take a chance.

We found it easier to get a hire car, once we'd got our luggage & picked up hire car, we only waited about 30mins for ours to be brought to us at ARC. In total, it took maybe 2hrs from when...

Maybe you are confusing Staines with Slough then? Slough is certainly the industrial town you paint a picture of, the smog, ugliness etc. Staines is not what I would consider industrial. Parts of it...
