Re: Prawn crackers

Has anyone tried these odd-looking things before? I had lunch at a rather dubious Chinese place near my work today, and they had a whole rack of these by the counter. I almost bought a pack just to...

Re: Business trip to Canada - Letter of Introduction needed?

The travel/visa company that we deal with at work has started insisting lately that it's a "requirement" and always has been for anyone visiting Canada on business to have a letter of introduction...

Re: K1 London interview timescales

My experience is from 2007, so take it for what it's worth, but... I got my interview date 12 days after I mailed back all the Packet 3 stuff, and that interview date was set for less than 3 weeks...

Re: Things you should do before you emigrate ?

THIS might have to be the best advice I have ever seen, ever! Had I known how much I would be pining for a few rashers of back bacon between a couple of slices of Mother's Pride (umm, actually I...

Re: How do you like your state?

$350 to NY sounds like a bargain compared to the fares I was looking at when I was wistfully thinking it might be nice to fly there for a few days! Usually I think I must've accidentally checked the...

Re: How do you like your state?

We live in (well, near) Cincinnati because of my husband's Columbus - Cincy job move just before I moved over here. I like it here, although I can't pretend I don't miss being in a proper big-big-big...

Re: Missing immunisation card - test for DV/immigrant visas?

Same here - and nobody ever pressed the issue after that. I'd read about a couple of cases of people being made to get the shot despite having had chicken pox as a child, so was half expecting it to...

Re: Beans...what's your fill?

I've not seen passata anywhere here, and I have been looking! I was wondering as I read down the thread if "tomato sauce" here is the same as passata... hmm.

Passata's just "sieved whole...

Re: AOS from a K-1

I'm late with this comment, but... eek! I remember the first time I read about how I'd have to go for "biometrics", I had all sorts of horrible visions in my head of what that would involve....

Re: Beans...what's your fill?

That chowder recipe sounds soooooo good, I am going to have to try it.

I can buy Heinz baked beans from a few places around here, but they're insanely expensive, and I never really liked Heinz...

Re: N400 Coming up!!

Doesn't your green card have a "resident since" date on it that shows when you became a permanent resident?

(Editing to say... mine seems to be coming up very fast, too - I don't know where the...

Re: confused over date for permanent resident

The date you arrived in the US is irrelevant here, as is the date you got married. You need to apply to remove your conditions DURING the 90 days before the expiry date on your green card. You can't...

Re: Travelling to see my US boyfriend - advice please

Oh!! This reminds me - the guy who gave me my "grilling" (I should be able to remember what the POE was - Logan, I think, but may have been O'Hare) and then turned out to be nice after all, in the...

Re: Travelling to see my US boyfriend - advice please

If someone's just blessed with a lot of holiday/vacation time and happens to have made frequent trips to the States, chances are the idea of running into problems with an immigration officer would...

Re: A question of choice

I should've paid attention to that "there has been another post since you started typing this" (or whatever it says!) message! :D :o

Re: A question of choice

I don't know how much the CR-1 costs, but if you're going to compare apples to apples, you need to factor in the costs of AOS when you're considering the costs of the K-1. The AOS fee plus biometrics...

Re: K1 London Interview: ICL, OMG and SAS.

Lovely post!! Brought back memories... *sniffle*... (and reminded me of my own K-1 interview post, elsewhere, waaaaay back when! Going to have to go and find it now, so that I can get truly...

Re: Another new citizen, and not even a PR for 3 years.

Yep, it does. :) Three years from the "resident since" date on your green card - the date you became a permanent resident, conditional or not. Check the eligibility worksheet (here:...

Re: I-751 (reference letters)

We didn't include any affidavits, either, and I was approved, nonetheless. I also didn't send photos, just because we're not very good at taking them, other than extremely random photos that would...

Re: Are You Taking an American's Job?

No, I'm not!

This according to my (American) colleague who complained about all the (pesky L-1 visa-holding) non-Americans in our workplace who were "coming over here and getting jobs" that should...

Re: What is the deal with house "wrapping"?

I saw my first TP-ing a few weeks ago when we went to pick up my stepdaughter and a house in her street was all festooned in bright white bogroll. My husband (who celebrated his 40th this week)...

Re: Using a UK debit card in America

Barclays did that to me, too, a few years ago. And I DID inform them I'd be in the US. It was working just fine for a week or so, and then on the first occasion I found myself without any cash on me...

Re: Question about the I-129F Process

I came to the US on a K-1 about 2 1/2 years ago - we filed our I-129F to the CSC in October 2006. I was checking daily for updates, but there were none... at all. Until the day (in Feb 2007) that the...

Re: Marks and Spencer ship to USA for 20 quid

Ooh! Never heard of Hue, but will check them out, thanks! :) Well... I will when it's tights-wearing weather again, anyway! Am also off to have a look at Sock Dreams... patterned tights, I like!...
