MOVE TO FRANCE WITHOUT THE LINGO?

Hi there,

We're currently trying to decide whether or not to stay in the UK or emigrate to Australia. Two things put me off Australia - the distance (I'd never see my parents again as they...

Re: Wanted Down Under...incase you missed it...

Really? My brother-in-law reckons his mate emigrated a few years ago and did this. Maybe it's because of the recession and them being stricter now...?

If not we'd just have to get an Aussie...

Re: Wanted Down Under...incase you missed it...

Gosh that was good timing then. Makes houses look slightly more affordable over there :) We were resigning ourselvs to perhaps having to have a UK mortgage on an Aussie property if we ever make the...

Re: Wanted Down Under...incase you missed it...

Very sensible. I'm also a spreadsheet fanatic and have them for everything from budgets to pushchair comparisons for our new baby! Hope you manage to sell the house soon. What are the interest rates...

Re: Wanted Down Under...incase you missed it...

I'm pleased you're making a go of it (the progamme did actually show that you were doing well, which was a nice change) and like I said, I'm sure a lot of it was down to editing (and a lot of my...

Re: Wanted Down Under...incase you missed it...

I'm sure they are, but it doesn't change my opinion. Anyway, the houses over their budget thing wasn't their doing, it was the programme makers (who always do that) so I wasn't criticising the family...

Re: Wanted Down Under...incase you missed it...

I watched "Wanted Down Under - Revisited" this morning and I spent most of the programme shouting at the tv - it's so annoying! :curse:

The people had a budget of £165k and were shown a house for...

Re: Help! Victoria Skills Eligibility List

Hi, thanks for that but it still doesn't help our case as that list includes pretty much everything BUT what my husband does! (as always... :().

Cheers all the same

Re: Help! Victoria Skills Eligibility List

I know but my husband's IT specialisation isn't on any lists. Like I said, it was on S.A.'s list but it's been taken off now. He would come under Senior Service Engineer (part of the CP-NEC). The...

Re: Help! Victoria Skills Eligibility List

Hi Anne, unfortunately the only state that had my husband's skill on it (S.A.) took it off their list on January 1st this year :( So we're just sitting back in the hope that someone adds it to their...

Re: Help! Victoria Skills Eligibility List

Tell me about it. We've spent the last year (and around £3.5k!) applying for Canada, and just before Xmas we decided it wasn't what we wanted and are now aiming for Oz. Ironic really because it was...

Re: Help! Victoria Skills Eligibility List

Hi there, sorry to hear that. My husband's occupation (IT) was also taken off the S.A. list (it was the only state that had Computing Professionals - NEC on it - all the other states have irrelevant...

Well done to Jenny and Dave for taking part in the show without losing your rag at any point! Several things which would've made me pipe up include:-

1) Nicky saying "houses start at an...

Re: Wanted Down Under...incase you missed it...

Oh right, thought it would be something like that  (everyone says IT is in demand but it's never the sort of IT my husband does - sometimes we feel like he's the only person in the world...

Re: Wanted Down Under...incase you missed it...

What type of IT work does your husband do? My husband's a Senior Support Engineer / Systems Admin. (hardware) and has been told by someone on his IT forums that there's hardly an IT work in Adelaide...

Re: ** Perth vs Melbourne - your views, please **

PERTH is very isolated from the rest of Oz, but you're closer to the Far East for holidays, whereas MELBOURNE is closer to NZ (and from there, Fiji).

PERTH has some great places to go on the...

Re: Wanted Down Under...incase you missed it...

I agree with all your points, particularly about WDU being more of a 'holiday show'. I certainly don't watch it for its informative factor! I just like seeing the different parts of Oz and...

Re: I.T. JOBS IN TASMANIA OR ADELAIDE

That's all software though isn't it? My husband's in hardware / systems admin which doesn't seem to be in demand :(

(to clarify, he's a Senior IT Support Engineer (Field Engineer), 3rd line...

I.T. JOBS IN TASMANIA OR ADELAIDE

We're looking at emigrating to Australia but don't have enough points at the moment. My husband's job ("Computing Professional - NEC") was on the list for S.A. before Xmas (we were hoping to get...
