Default value of Expo events?

We attended the Canadian Expo expo at Olympia last year; the one run via expo-canada.com

I was extremely disappointed at how small and limited variety there was. It put me off wanting to visit an event run by them again.

At the time we were still in the process of identifying the country to move to. Canada or Australia.

The next expo is in a few months for Australia; can anyone give me an indication as to if the Australian expo is likely to be a bigger event.

I do not specifically fit into a skilled category, such as tradesmen etc (just a mere computer geek) so is it likely to be worthwhile attending this year?

The information such as the seminars don't seem to provide any info that I couldn't get here or from the official websites.

Sorry if this is a bit waffly but hopefully you'll get the gist of what i'm try to find out

Thanks

Richard

We went to two expos. There were masses of people there and we didn't really gain anything. At the 1st one we were brand new to it and didn't know what to ask and at the second one I had been doing lots of research on the internet and didn't gain anything new! I think it is good to get all your info from fourms and official websites and take your time to go through it, sometimes when you ask them questions at these expos they don't take the time to do through things or tell you what you want to hear.Although in saying that is it is free, then it would do no harm to go. There can be some good literature at it and perhaps some contacts.

thanks for your reply. the expo event i went to cost the 2 of us about £40 in tickets/travel costs, so although it's a small price in the long term, I did feel a bit shortchanged.

My husband went to the Expo at the Australian Embassy last March and was offered 3 jobs following the Expo from people he met there.

We arrived in Australia in November so for us the Expo was worth it.

In my case, I'm in IT (UNIX systems contractor). Where will the expo be held and who is hosting it? Does it require registration?

Belay that, I just found the information I was looking for. Here's the appropriate link for anyone else interested.

The UK expo is being held in London on March 21/22 (Sat/Sun) at Chelsea Football Club. Tickets are £15 per adult (kids go free).

A collegue of mine has also stated he'd been to one of these events previously and found it to be a waste of time. Still trying to find out if it was this particular event that he went to or another.

Has anyone been to this particular event previously that can give an indication of whether it was worth the expense or not?

hi all

i went to the expo at the Australian embassy last march and thought it was a complete waste , didnt learn anything just picked up loads and loads of leaflets . if you do not live to far away from it then go but if it involves a lot of travel then i wouldnt bother . i am a plumber by the way and i thought that work wise these were geared more towards healthcare and teaching

I went to the one in Olympia last year. To be honest it was of limited value. All the major banks are there trying to get you to open accounts, the major agents are there trying to sign you up, the movers and the pensions bods. Very few actual employers and certainly none for IT. Saying that if you were an electrical, civil or mining engineer there were plenty of opportunities.
