Re: Going back to work - tax implications

So I am reading it wrong then? It says it is a tax credit (not a deduction) that he receives - does that not mean that he owes $11,800 less tax when I have no income?
Therefore the amount I earn up...

Going back to work - tax implications

So, with the little one being in school full-time I am looking at the tax implications of me going back to work on a part-time basis.
Bearing in mind that it likely would be a entry level job to...

Re: Do my children need a British passport to visit the UK on holiday?

My kid was born in Australia also and we never had any difficulty entering the UK without a British passport. We used our Australian ones before we were Canadian.
(We all have triple citizenship -...

Re: The new winter thread - 2018-19

Another snow day for the kiddo today - and then the predicted blizzard did a last minute jink and missed us totally.
Every year the mother in law asks if we still have snow when we skype in early...

Re: Citizenship Application Timeline

Ours was 13 months - but we informed them we were out of the country for a few weeks mid-way through the process so I think they probably put it on hold or pushed it to the back of the queue and that...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony

They take the PR card from you, it’s no longer valid anyway, but they do not take away the COPR document. As tihs is your confirmation of landing in Canada it is used for pension purposes (my friend...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony

We took our PR cards and our COPR. You would have been issued one when your PR was confirmed and used it for when you landed.
In the end they didn’t even look at the COPR document though.

Re: What Pop Concerts do you remember attending?

Absolutely amazing - the concert we went to was the first time they had the glowing bracelets synced up to flash in time to the music. Who wouldn’t enjoy 30,000 psychedelic lights bouncing all over...

Re: Failing to comply with PR obligations; re-applying

Agreed, Canada is huge and diverse - but to not even want to leave the province of Manitoba for a look elsewhere (or to let your child experience a change of scenery) I can’t understand.

Re: Failing to comply with PR obligations; re-applying

I agree -I think it’s in the blood as a British expat to want to be able to be free to wander as we wish. Just being without a valid passport for a month when we were waiting for our Canadian one was...

Re: Citizenship Application Timeline

It wasn’t for citizenship (it was for a child care centre screening and criminal record check) but I got a fingerprint check done recently through RCMP and that cost me $70

You can go right off some folk you know :sneaky:

Re: The new winter thread - 2018-19

Im actually happier to be braving the cold than suffering in the heat that they are going through right now. Lived there 6 years and that was enough for me.
At least here I can...

Re: The new winter thread - 2018-19
