I have just been and towed out a courier's truck. The driver delivered a package and then tried to turn around, failing to note the 4' of snow either side of him. Not as daft, I suppose as the one who decided to turn around on the lawn during the spring thaw.

Those are just once in a generation temps for the US - several times a winter season for Canada.

Once in this generation but common for the next. Just like the record hots in Australia.

Sorry, I did my best to sort this out but I'm retired now.

This is very true.
Im actually happier to be braving the cold than suffering in the heat that they are going through right now. Lived there 6 years and that was enough for me.
At least here I can stuff heat packs in my pockets

I remember 'packing heat' meant something entirely different in Ed McBain's 87th Precinct books.

So many people don’t seem to realize that a car battery is only good for 3-4 years and to keep using it after that period in Canadian winters is a high risk venture in a car not garaged at nights.

Special weather statement has been issued for Vancouver and area.

Possible snow tomorrow 2cm or rain or a mix of both.

Going into the week highs around 1 and lows of minus 5.

"Cold Arctic air is currently pushing southwards across the interior of the province and is expected to arrive tonight. The cold air will persist into the latter half of next week. Temperatures will be 5 to 10 degrees below seasonal averages, making for the coldest conditions seen this season."

It's -17 now, and according to the forecast it won't be this warm again until at least next weekend.

Well we are almost the same temperature today so you have my condolences.

I opened the patio door a few mins ago to let the dog out, and got a bunch of -20 wind up my dressing gown. Woke me up it did.
