Minus 1 now. Tried to take the dog for a walk but once we left the lobby and was outside she refused to walk turned towards the lobby and she ran to the door to get back in....silly dog.

Our dogs do that, at -20. Sight hounds, no fat, no fur.

I dont think ours has ever experienced minus 20.

Doubt she would be happy going out in such temps. Lol

She has no belly fur, very thin coat on her chest and very short coat not designed for the cold.

I have just discovered an ingenious way to get light fluffy snow off of my car without touching it. My electric bloody leaf blower!!! why didn't I think of this until yesterday afternoon?? Works a treat.

3rd snow day in the space of two weeks today - wasn’t the -50’s temperature this time but the blowing snow. Every time I try to clear the driveway the wind changes directions and it just blows straight back in my face.
Did witness the most ridiculous thing though - bearing in mind the -33 windchill- further up the street there’s a man with a snowblower and pj trousers on

If they break down they can’t rely on them restarting and getting another bus to get the kids off could take too long.
Well my car sat idle for 60hrs in sub -20c temperatures and I'm pleased to say it started OK this morning. I let it run for 10 minutes before driving it, drove it for 15 minutes to work and just as I was pulling into my work, I felt hot air finally coming through the vents.
Supposed to warm up to -5 by the end of the week.

My husband started my car for me this morning, left it running for a while so it was ready and quick to warm up, he's a good husband.

I am working with some Filipino's, for one it's her first winter, she has been saying for weeks ooh it's soo cold. Today she came into work, she is no longer amused, you could just see her eyes as every possible surface was covered - sensible as she walks to work. She wants a car now (she lives 5 minutes away). I can't see her staying in Alberta, it's taken her less than a year to realise she doesn't like the cold, it took me about 6 years lol

Blimey, how many weeks has Regina been in minus temperatures for? I can only handle about one week of the extreme cold. Extreme cold for me is -10c and below.

This time of year the normal temp is a night-time low of -20 and a high of -10, but it's also normal to have a week or 2 each winter when it doesn't get above -20 or even -30 (a cold snap). We had unseasonably warm weather here recently while the east and the BC interior was all freezing and snowfall warnings so can't complain. The bit of snow we've been getting recently is welcome since there was very little in the country around here and the water table's been low for a couple of years... since the flooding stopped, actually.

Environment Canada says minus 6 but the weather network says minus 2.

Quite the difference.

Yeah I do agree about the lack of snow being a bad thing. I'm praying that the low snowpack won't have a knock on effect on the forest fires that we are bound to get.

As soon as the snow is gone you'll have to get out there and rake the forest floor.
