Had a couple of weeks vacillating around 7 degrees, but looks like just a few days before spring's in full force

I saw a squirrel this morning - now the ground is no longer under layers of ice and snow, it came to find a nut to eat! Spring isn't on it's way though

Living in Canada for 30 years has taught me where I live that Spring starts at the end of April. Some years there has been a a light dusting of snow in May. So depending on where you live its either close to Spring or nearing the end of Winter.

Up in Kootenay Pass they regularly get blizzards right up until June, as I found out.

Another snow day for the kiddo today - and then the predicted blizzard did a last minute jink and missed us totally.
Every year the mother in law asks if we still have snow when we skype in early March. I can barely see the top of the pergola so I think that’s always going to be a yes. but at least it’s warmed up considerably and we will soon be pulling out the splash pants.

I'm swapping over my tyres this weekend so I can guarantee you it will snow again in Kamloops.

We sat on our deck this afternoon and it was super! The warmth is coming back. I can’t chip a path from my door to the driveway yet....I tried with a great big ice pick and it’s just too deep...but you can see spring is right out there...we are near to springing

This is the most profound weather I have ever endured and it makes a difference to those who live through it. The winters here are life changing and alter the phyce...not negatively or positively...but it needs to be borne in mind if you are thinking of taking the plunge.

Ours is melting at a terrific rate, and because we didn't get much snow it will soon be gone. Not too long ago we had a winter with so much snow that the piles accumulated through snow removal over the winter out past the city's edge didn't completely melt by the following winter. Year round snow. This year if we don't get enough rain at the right times it will be a drought year and the water table will be front page news.

The Snow has finally melted in Kamloops, road sweeping signs are out, my winter tires are off and my car is clean. Life is good until November.

Last week was really nice, warm even. The weekend is cooler, a bit cloudy but not too bad.

Can't wait for the trees to turn green again, need to bring some life to the place again.

We can see about half our grass. The driveway is clear except for the snow piled up at the back by Mr Plow, but that's not much.

No lawn really showing here in Ottawa but a little bit of grass at the edge of the sidewalk/driveway showing but basically 99% of our back yard is covered. Our son in Waterloo was playing footie this afternoon on grass. Currently a bit of light snow here..

A lot of melting happening here but what's left re freezes at night so you could skate on the driveway.
Beautiful blue sky today though.

...and just when we all thought this thread could get dusty till next year...what fun! Quite a lot of our main roads were shut, the transit service has been suspended and chaos basically reigns! I think it was meant to be rain...but it snowed instead, boy did it ever snow!
