Canadian passport app - original of birth certificate?
Just completing the Canadian passport application for my daughter - proof of parentage requires us to send a birth certificate. Does anybody know if we have to send the original or will a copy signed by our guarantor suffice?
We are allowed to do that for proof of identity documents for ourselves. .

alli call intae a service Canada office ,the one out by st vital centre helped a friend out quickly with his questions. you cant phone your local office as its a secret!!

yeah they don’t like phone calls do they? We just sent the original today - figured we had to send originals of the citizenship certificates anyway so I will just have to put my faith in them and Canada registered post

took mine to my local service Canada office ...paid it there,they checked it and sent it away internal mail (free)

Just updating in case anyone else has this query - it does need to be the original of the birth certificate.
Got the passports yesterday - so that took just under 1 month from sending the postal application.
